THE ROLE: The Certified Welder will be required to perform wire welding operations on a variety of pressure vessels including but not limited to all types of couplings.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Must be capable of setting up and operating all of the following equipment:  wire welder, TIG machine, MIG machine, stick machine, flux core welder, hoist, grinder, various hand tools, micrometers, calipers, level, tri-square, various jigs, measuring tape and arc gauge.
  • Must be able to read and interpret machine shop drawings; ability to set-up and operate weld positioners and stationary welding equipment.
  • Must be able to identify parts by part number as indicated on route sheet and shop prints.
  • Maintain good communication with production supervisors, managers, and other support personnel.
  • Must be positive team contributor who works well with all team members.
  • Participate in training activities, both on and off site
  • Document and maintain required records, and follow-up as required on all deficiencies.
  • Work safely by following all safety policies, procedures and actively participate in all site safety programs.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in welding up to 1 year.
  • Will be required to be tested (within a specified time limit) in order to be certified under ASME Section 9, to be in compliance with AWWA standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret machine shop drawings; ability to set up and operate weld positioners and stationary welding equipment.
  • Must be capable of producing leak proof welds.
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting all shop orders..
  • Requires the ability to read and write and follow instructions.
  • Must self-inspect products welded to maintain quality and quantity standards.
  • Must be capable of working extended hours to meet customer demands.
  • Must keep work area clean and orderly and maintain proper care of equipment.
  • Be able to follow detailed work orders, modify same through supervision or lead-person as required.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

In this role, the working environment is both an indoor climate-controlled office and plant manufacturing environment. The physical demands may include but are not limited to occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds, and prolonged exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.

SALARY:
