We have an IMMEDIATE NEED for a Field Service Engineer to provide technical support for the installation, testing, and deployment of a complex telecommunication system. As a Field Service Engineer on this program, you will be a member of a team that interacts with technical and non-technical teammates, including customers and vendors. In this role, you will be required conduct cabinet, rack, equipment and cable installations.
This is a remote position, but will require you travel up to 90% of the time.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct installation, and network cabling infrastructures and medium compliant with current NIST and DISN Standards.
- Build and install equipment racks.
- Configure Cisco, Ciena, Safenet network elements per Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) guidelines.
- Execute the actions identified in the TSIP to accomplish the tasks required to bring the installed equipment into operational readiness.
- Perform on site configuration of equipment and installation test and acceptance (IT&A) of network components and facilitate remote testing with off-site Operations Engineering support.
- Conduct installation/de-installation/upgrade/interface actions associated with network components at user locations.
- Support senior staff as required to meet customer requirements and project milestones.
- Have flexible working hours to be available to support off hour work, when needed.
- Comply with all safety requirements and all required training, following the guidance provided in Leidos policies, procedures, and manuals.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have an active Secret security clearance.
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems and 4+ years of related experience in installation such as BICSI or Telcordia. Specific experience, education, and training may be considered in place of a degree.
- Experience with installations, pulling and terminating cable, determining, and implementing required pin outs, installing, and configuring equipment, cards power supplies, racks, patch panels, etc., testing, and documenting installations, dressing, and labeling cables, racks, patch panels, etc.
- ANSI/BICSI N1
- Installation Practices for Telecommunications and ICT Cabling and Related Cabling Infrastructure
- Job requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility.
- Knowledgeable and proficiency in M.S. Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), specifically Visio.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be always responsive to all customer issues and requests. Must be willing & able to travel at short notice.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform other installation activities.
- Must be able to obtain DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (such as CompTIA Security+ CE) certification within a year from start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (such as CompTIA Security+ CE) certification or higher.

Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
