The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for managing a large team of machinists across two business brands.
 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and inspire a team of machinists and operators to meet production goals while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members for skill and performance enhancement.
     

Operational Oversight:

  • Take charge of day-to-day operations in the machine shop, ensuring seamless workflow and on-time project completion.
  • Ability to drive the day and be able to look at tomorrow.
  • Develop and execute production schedules, prioritizing tasks to fulfill customer requirements.
     

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and uphold rigorous quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of precision and quality in machined components.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any quality-related issues promptly and effectively.
     

Resource Management:

  • Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and manage expenses to align with budgetary constraints.
     

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and implement strategies to boost productivity and minimize waste.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, recommending and implementing relevant improvements.
     

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and provide comprehensive safety training to team members.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Expertise in machining processes, CNC programming, and tooling.
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated track record of effectively managing and motivating diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.


Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of machine shop experience with manual and CNC mills/lathes required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a leadership capacity within a machine shop environment required.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced required.
     

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of 20-30 machinists across two shifts.
