The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is continuously seeking exceptional leaders and consultants to advise and spearhead our World Bank–funded projects within the Crisis, Response, Recovery and Development (CRRD) unit, focused on Education, Health, Protection, and Economic Wellbeing. We are deeply committed to making a meaningful global impact in these sectors across both development and humanitarian contexts.

Open Roles

The IRC is seeking both national and international candidates to fill the following roles:

  • Team Leader(s)
  • Technical Expert(s) – Education, Health, Economic Empowerment, Protection, and Resilience
    (see below for more details on countries and thematic areas)
  • Environmental and Social Safeguard Advisor

These roles are expected to be based in, or require travel to, host countries depending on the location of the funding opportunity. Further details on contract type, salary, and benefits will be provided to selected candidates on a call-down basis. These are mid- to senior-level positions requiring outstanding critical thinking, organizational, and representational skills.

Candidate Profile

We are eager to hear from senior leaders with:

  • Demonstrated experience (7+ years) in complex program design and delivery, including in fragile and conflict-affected countries (FCV)
  • Prior experience as a Team Leader, Technical Advisor, or in a similar role on World Bank–funded projects (strongly preferred)
  • Experience managing consortia of international and local partners
  • Proven ability to operate at a senior management level, including managing staff in a matrixed system with a focus on adaptive management
  • Substantial experience working within the World Bank operational footprint in developing countries and/or fragile and conflict-affected contexts
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with government officials
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in French or Spanish is an asset
  • For Technical Expert roles: extensive technical experience in Education, Health, Economic Empowerment, Protection, and/or Resilience initiatives in development and/or humanitarian settings
