Job Summary:

The Assistant HR Consultant will assist the company’s HR Consulting division in providing client companies with consultation on matters typically assigned to the Human Resources function, including employment law compliance, policies and procedures. This position provides tactical and administrative support to the HR Consulting division in preparing client deliverables and work products. Support will also consist of assisting in the strategic integration of effective HR processes, programs and practices into clients’ daily operations, and maximizing the client’s performance by introducing “best practice” products or services. This position will also be responsible for assisting in overall marketing efforts and internal administrative functions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Investigates and prepares work products for all assigned client inquiries and projects regarding basic HR concerns in a timely manner, and ensures the highest compliance and professionalism standards 

  • Prepares well-researched and meticulous responses to client inquiries, as well as various project deliverables, training presentations and other HR work products as assigned 

  • Assists in developing and implementing employee handbooks and other written policies and procedures 

  • Maintains a working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations related to the Human Resources function including, but not limited to the FLSA, ADA, NLRA, FMLA, OSHA, ACA, ERISA/COBRA, HIPAA, Civil Rights Act of 1964, and provide clients with consultation accordingly 

  • Documents and maintains copious client HR records and metrics to provide feedback to clients 

  • Supports the marketing program development, creates marketing collateral and other branded sales materials, and assists in marketing execution to achieve key milestones and revenue goals 

  • Assists in preparation of proposals, contracts and consulting agreements for procurement of new business 

  • Directs clients to the appropriate tools and resources when necessary 

  • Maintains detailed hours and project tracking using the internal work management software 

  • Assists with basic accounting functions for the department, including requesting and generating invoices and managing billing systems 

  • Keeps abreast of HR trends, best practices, and technology solutions 

  • Participates in professional development sessions or seminars to further HR continuing education and maintains appropriate credentials 

  • Attends industry conferences, exhibitor events, and client meetings as assigned, and represents the company and HR Consulting division professionally 

  • Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Organizational Psychology or a related field 

  • 2 - 3 years of Human Resources experience preferred 

  • Ability to identify potential problems, adeptness at analyzing facts, problem solving, decision-making, and demonstrating sound judgment 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, including meticulous punctuation and grammar skills  

  • Ability to communicate difficult and sensitive information tactfully, and provide simplified interpretation of information to clients in a comprehensible and concise manner 

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision required 

  • Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment 

  • Ability to work within timeframe of standard policies and procedures and client expectations 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and client information 

  • Thorough knowledge of HR principles and federal/state regulations  

  • Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment  

  • Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with our team 

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point is essential 

Travel Requirements 

This position will require frequent travel to client locations predominantly in our region of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Additionally, occasional travel by plane may be necessary for conferences or other work-related events throughout the year.
