GENERAL FUNCTION

The Digital Product Owner II is responsible for shaping, delivering, and continuously improving enterprise capabilities and enabling services that support secure solutions across multiple channels. This role helps build and run products and services that support digital, voice, and customer-assisted experiences, including capabilities used by online, mobile, contact center, IVR, branch, and related servicing teams.

This role primarily operates at the platform, domain, and API layer, defining capabilities, requirements, and control guardrails that enable downstream channel experiences rather than directly owning every front-end interaction. The successful candidate must be able to engage credibly in technical discussions with engineering teams from day one, helping shape solutions that are feasible, scalable, secure, and aligned to business objectives.

The Product Owner partners closely with technology, design, analytics, operations, and line-of-business stakeholders to translate business goals, user and operational needs, and technical possibilities into clear product priorities, actionable backlogs, and measurable outcomes.

Success in this role requires balancing customer, operational, technical, and risk considerations to help deliver capabilities that are reusable, scalable, and aligned to enterprise priorities. These platform, domain, and integration capabilities should be treated as products, with clear value propositions, measurable outcomes, and well-defined consumers across the organization.

The role works cross-functionally with partners in engineering, UX, analytics, servicing, operations, legal, compliance, fraud, and information security to deliver high-quality solutions that are resilient, measurable, and aligned to business value.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensuring actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define, maintain, and communicate the roadmap for assigned product capabilities across multiple channels and supporting enterprise services.
  • Own product work from discovery through production release, helping ensure delivery aligns to business priorities, user and operational needs, risk expectations, and implementation readiness.
  • Partner with Agile Scrum teams on new feature development and ongoing product enhancement, including backlog refinement, user story development, acceptance criteria, sprint support, testing, and release readiness.
  • Maintain a healthy, prioritized backlog that supports near-term delivery while advancing longer-term product goals and measurable business outcomes. Assess real-time stakeholder requests and new requirements, clarify expected outcomes, and determine appropriate prioritization against in-flight sprint commitments, backlog priorities, technical dependencies, and enterprise objectives.
  • Define product requirements and guardrails for platform, domain, API, and integration capabilities that enable channel teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
  • Make clear prioritization decisions and tradeoff recommendations across feature delivery, technical dependencies, operational readiness, stakeholder requests, and risk requirements.
  • Partner with design, UX, research, analytics, engineering, and servicing stakeholders to identify pain points, validate concepts, and improve outcomes across channels.
  • Use data, performance metrics, experimentation, operational feedback, and stakeholder insights to evaluate outcomes, inform prioritization, and continuously improve product performance.
  • Collaborate across lines of business and support functions—including operations, legal, compliance, fraud, information security, servicing, and technology—to gain alignment, address dependencies, and support successful implementation.
  • Support production health by helping prioritize and resolve defects, incidents, vulnerabilities, and post-release issues, while promoting clear communication and strong stakeholder transparency.
  • Create and maintain product, feature, and support documentation to enable rollout readiness, servicing support, training, and effective cross-functional communication.
  • Represent and showcase the work being delivered by the team, including progress, priorities, outcomes, risks, key decisions, and delivered business value, to stakeholders and leadership through clear, concise, and well-organized communications.
  • Contribute to annual planning, product objectives, and KPI development to measure progress, adoption, operational effectiveness, and risk outcomes.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory considerations, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation, simplification, and stronger business outcomes.
  • Apply modern product practices—including responsible use of AI-enabled tools for research, analysis, documentation, workflow acceleration, and decision support—to improve team effectiveness and product outcomes.
  • May mentor junior team members and provide informal leadership across the product team by sharing product thinking, Agile best practices, delivery learnings, and stakeholder management discipline.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

  • Demonstrate strong ownership, sound judgment, and a bias for action.
  • Lead through influence in a highly matrixed environment, building alignment across business, technology, servicing, and control partners.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including translating complex work into understandable priorities, progress updates, risks, outcomes, and delivered value.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, attention to detail, and responsiveness when managing stakeholder needs, evolving requirements, and shifting priorities.
  • Foster collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability across the product lifecycle.
  • Help create an environment where teams can move quickly, manage risk appropriately, and stay focused on delivering business value.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 5–7 years of related experience in product management, product ownership, technical product management, digital delivery, software delivery, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated success in strategy development, roadmap execution, and delivery of customer-facing products, enterprise platforms, or enabling capabilities.
  • Strong product management background with experience translating business, operational, and technical needs into clear priorities and practical solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments, including backlog management, user stories, sprint ceremonies, testing support, and release coordination.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to work through complex concepts and data, define meaningful KPIs, evaluate tradeoffs, and use insights to guide product decisions and prioritization.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization, respond clearly to stakeholder requests, and communicate priorities, tradeoffs, and expected outcomes with confidence.
  • Ability to self-motivate, work well independently, and thrive in a cross-functional, matrixed environment. Strong organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent requests and priorities effectively are essential.
  • Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to challenge the status quo to improve business outcomes.
  • This is a technical product role that benefits from prior software delivery, engineering, or coding experience; however, it is not a hands-on software engineering position.
  • Must be comfortable working with APIs, system integrations, cloud-based platforms, service-oriented architectures, and technical delivery discussions with engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in digital banking, fintech, payments, customer authentication, customer fraud/risk prevention, or other regulated product environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting capabilities across multiple channels, such as digital, voice, contact center, customer-assisted, branch-assisted, or servicing-related experiences.
  • Hybrid product-and-technical background highly valued, with prior experience in product ownership, technical product management, software engineering, solution engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Hands-on experience with or strong working knowledge of Java-based applications, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, and enterprise integrations strongly preferred.
  • Prior coding or software delivery experience preferred, particularly in environments involving Java, service/API development, cloud engineering, or domain/platform modernization.
  • Able to understand technical tradeoffs, architecture patterns, and engineering constraints well enough to define clear product requirements and make informed prioritization decisions without serving as a full-time developer.
  • Experience using analytics, experimentation, customer research, and operational performance data to validate ideas and optimize product outcomes.
  • Familiarity with modern AI capabilities and a practical understanding of how AI can improve product discovery, analysis, content creation, documentation, workflow efficiency, and team effectiveness in a controlled, responsible environment.
  • Experience working in regulated environments requiring partnership with risk, legal, compliance, fraud, and information security stakeholders.
  • Candidates do not need deep prior experience in every channel or capability area to be successful; we are looking for strong product leaders who can learn quickly, partner deeply, and operate effectively in a complex, technical, regulated environment.
