Vice President and U.S. Squad Leader, Neurodegeneration (ND)

Commercial Portfolio Organization (CPO) | Genentech

Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases have stolen memories, mobility, and lives for decades. We are finally armed with the science to fight back.

We are building a robust neurodegeneration pipeline. It includes our flagship Alzheimer's therapy, trontinemab, and key Parkinson's assets like prasinezumab. In addition, our Diagnostics colleagues have developed and are poised to commercialize ground-breaking blood based biomarkers for Alzheimer’s which will allow us to radically re-shape patient journeys and care models. But a pipeline does not save lives on its own. We need a commercial engine to put these medicines into the hands of patients.

We are seeking a Vice President and U.S. Squad Leader for Neurodegeneration. You will build this engine.

The Role

You hold single-point accountability for the P&L, strategy, and successful commercialization of our entire U.S. neurodegeneration portfolio. You will report directly to the Senior Vice President of the Commercial Portfolio Organization (CPO) and sit on the CPO Leadership Team (CPOLT).

You are not just launching drugs. You are building a new market. Treating neurodegeneration requires systemic changes in healthcare delivery. You will design the strategy and assemble the exact cross-functional Squad—including  Medical, Marketing, Access, Field, and Operations—needed to execute it. You will also design and execute a novel commercialization model with our Roche Diagnostics colleagues to drive radical shifts in the way Alzheimer’s is identified and treated.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build the ND Squad and Network: You will recruit, motivate, and lead a cross-functional network. You will define the required capabilities to win, from Key Account Managers targeting top-tier neurology clinics to specialized field teams focused on diagnostic pathways.

  • Commercialize the Pipeline: You will lead the U.S. go-to-market strategy for our pipeline assets. Your immediate focus will be preparing the market for our Phase 1b/2a trontinemab readout and advancing our Parkinson's strategy.

  • Shape the Healthcare Ecosystem: You will clear the bottlenecks that keep patients from care. You will direct strategies to build clinical infrastructure, establish precise diagnostic pathways (PET scans, blood biomarkers, and CSF tests), and expand site-of-care capacity.

  • Enterprise Stewardship: You will represent the U.S. perspective in global R&D and pipeline investment decisions. You will partner seamlessly with Global Product Strategy (GPS), Product Development (PD), and Pharma Technical (PT) to ensure our medicines reach the U.S. market quickly and safely.

  • External Leadership: You will act as Genentech’s primary spokesperson for neurodegeneration. You will build deep, trusted relationships with patient advocates, therapeutic area experts, payers, and policymakers.

What You Will Deliver

  • Business Impact: You will secure resources, build the commercial infrastructure, and consistently meet ambitious financial and launch readiness targets.

  • Patient Impact: You will measure your success by lives changed. More patients diagnosed accurately. More patients starting our treatments, faster. More families are given hope.

  • Cultural Leadership: You will foster a culture of speed, precision, and psychological safety. You will manage your Squad like direct reports, coaching top talent and insisting on learning over perfection.

Our Operating Principles

  • Put Patients First: I always act as if patients I know are in the room and do what's best for them.

  • Follow the science: I seek answers through experiments, data and debate, and act on facts.

  • Act as one team: I care, collaborate and commit without boundaries, and trust others to do their part.

  • Embrace differences: I seek diverse perspectives, invite opposing views, and challenge myself and others.

  • Accelerate learning: I push to learn new things even if difficult, and openly share my successes and failures.

  • Simplify radically: I eliminate complexity, reuse with pride, and accomplish more with less.

  • Make impact now: I take accountability to do what is right, deliver value fast, and don't wait for certainty.

  • Think long term: I choose actions today that benefit future generations.

Who You Are

You bring a powerful blend of scientific depth and commercial agility. You understand the complex biology of neurodegeneration, and you know how to build a multi-billion-dollar business around it.

  • A Builder: You have a proven track record of bringing new therapies to market, especially in disease areas requiring significant market shaping and diagnostic infrastructure.

  • A Decisive Strategist: You make sound trade-off decisions. You know how to allocate budget and headcount across an expanding portfolio to maximize both revenue and patient reach.

  • A VACC Leader: You are a Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, and Coach. You inspire teams to tackle impossible problems. You do not manage from the rearview mirror; you operate with speed to the need.

  • A Cross-Functional Expert: You have demonstrated success uniting diverse teams—Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Analytics—around a single, patient-focused goal.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

To ensure success in this highly complex and visible role, candidates must meet the following minimum standards:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. An advanced degree (MBA, MD, PhD, or PharmD) is highly preferred.

  • Industry Experience: 15 or more years of commercial, medical, or overarching business leadership experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Leadership Experience: 10 or more years of people management experience, including a proven track record of leading senior leaders and guiding large, cross-functional matrix teams.

  • Launch Expertise: Extensive experience launching products in the U.S. market. Direct experience in neurodegeneration (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's) or other highly complex specialty markets is strongly preferred.

  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated success in P&L management, portfolio prioritization, and resource allocation at scale.

  • Travel and Location: This role is based at our South San Francisco headquarters. The candidate must be willing to travel up to 40% to engage with field teams, key accounts, and global partners.

Patients cannot wait. We need a leader who shares our urgency.
