Our Mechanical Engineering team is looking for promising new talent! In this position you will provide frontline mechanical engineering support to the maintenance and operations groups, help in troubleshooting equipment failures, develop a strong comprehension of the engineering principles, codes and standards and foster relationships across multiple disciplines while upholding our commitment to safety and the environment.Engage in hands on field work as you liaise between our Field Maintenance and Engineering & Reliability departments, clearly communicating ongoing plant issues, ‘bad actors’, asset upgrade opportunities/necessities, potential safety improvements, procedural advances, and recurring problems
Provide concise engineering scopes of work to support planned and unplanned activities
Lead management of change work in support of a safe, reliable operation.
Use a questioning attitude to investigate equipment failures, determine root cause, and drive significant corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Support/participate in turnaround/outage activities
Assist reliability engineering with equipment strategy improvements.
Assist in updating work practices and procedures
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Alberta (APEGA), with a desire to attain P. Eng designation within 4 years
The ability to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups from different part of the organization including other engineering discipline, numerous trades, planning, supply chain, operations, condition base monitoring, quality assurance, etc.
The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and have a strong sense of accountability
A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
You will work out of Suncor's Base Plant location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours and on call requirement based on business needs
This position is safety sensitive
Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
