The Opportunity
This position works out of our Plymouth MN location, supporting the Electrophysiology (EP) Medical device team. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. The Sr. Supply Chain Engineer is a key team member who leverages both technical and business skills within the Abbott Supply Chain organization to optimize value. Scope of work is across all Abbott Electro-Physiology (EP) sites to support local teams in finding methods to reduce risk and cost.
What You'll Work On
- Perform should cost analyses and models for components and assemblies to support strategic procurement
- Collaborate with cross functional team members to develop negotiation strategies and deliver savings
- Partner with R&D to develop Design to Cost and Design to Value models for new components and/or high-level assemblies
- Partner with other supply chain and functional roles in the evaluation of supplier capabilities and business fit
- Lead or participate in supplier selection process when determining business awards for components or assemblies
- Identify opportunities to initiate continuous improvement projects within value streams that contribute to reduced cost, lead time and risk profiles
- Assess internally manufactured components and/or assemblies for Make vs. Buy assessments
- Perform capacity analysis by partnering with suppliers and leading through a capacity assessment
- Develop and maintain a should cost model library
- Develop and maintain a library of standard parts
- Maintain current knowledge of latest manufacturing technologies
- Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude, and high ethical standards
- Participate in special projects, as necessary
- Integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work and share with colleagues as appropriate
- Travel up to 15%
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or other technical degree with 5+ years working within a regulated industry with primary responsibility for manufacturing process development and/or product costing
- Experience with developing cost analyses of components and high-level assemblies manufactured with electronics, machining, fabrication and/or injection molding processes
- Experience with DFM, DTC and DTV
- Must have a solid working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Proficient in the development of presentations that effectively communicate analytic results, appropriate for multiple levels in the organization.
- Able to influence stakeholder’s decision using robust data to support the recommended solution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Med Device experience preferred
- Experience in supporting and/or leading negotiations
- Black Belt Certification is a plus

$72,700.00 – $145,300.00
