We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon.  As the Director, US Market Access you will lead market access efforts to pursue, defend, and secure favorable reimbursement (coding, coverage, and payment) for the Alcon portfolio in the US, as well as support and inform reimbursement assessments and decision-making for upstream product development. As Alcon’s internal US reimbursement expert, this leader will leverage existing contacts with national and regional payers, third-party administrators, health policy makers and influencers, and other managed care organizations to establish coverage and develop, defend, and sustain optimal reimbursement. This position monitors health care payor policies that may impact Alcon, collaborating with our Government Affairs & Health Policy team. Also, the role will inform the development of compelling economic value propositions that will resonate with health care decision-makers.  Effective and productive collaboration with cross-functional partners across the enterprise will be an essential key success factor for this position, including upstream and downstream teams, as well as the other market access functions.

Primary Responsibility:

  • Establish the reimbursement and funding strategy for current and future US devices
  • Lead reimbursement assessments for new product acquisitions and early product development
  • Oversee the process to obtain coding, coverage, and reimbursement of Alcon products by working with Medicare carriers, commercial payer organizations, and state Medicaid agencies
  • Create and implement strategies that influence a positive coverage decision for company products from .public and commercial payers
  • Establish reimbursement coverage, awareness, and education programs at Alcon
  • Identify and monitor changes in medical policy, trends in the US Healthcare system, and regulations that impact providers; seek legal guidance and/or team input as applicable
  • Collaborate, equip, and advise the field market access team on the reimbursement strategy
  • Support field execution of the reimbursement strategy; including market access/reimbursement resources and training for all internal and external stakeholders to build capabilities and competencies
  • Communicate and present to senior management on reimbursement plans and performance measures
  • Analyze market place and healthcare dynamics to identify areas of growth or potential future reimbursement hurdles
  • Inform evidence generation that can bolster the value story of Alcon products and optimize reimbursement value propositions
  • Assess pricing strategies and competitive landscape to stabilize or increase net price for Alcon products
  • Engage with key stakeholders (AdvaMed, Ophthalmic State Societies, AMA CPT Panel Members, etc) at national and state levels to facilitate advocacy and support across key market access and policy issues

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Travel Requirements: 30%
