Purpose

The Sr Director, Clinical Pharmacy Operations plays an integral role in the success and growth of the organization by leading clinical and dispensing operations at both our Cary, NC and Ft. Worth, TX locations. This is an exciting and challenging role, leading a team of experienced professionals, providing oversight for day-to-day operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring personal and professional development of the operating team.

The ideal candidate is a senior level professional in the health care industry, with specialty pharmacy experience and expertise and knowledge of business process improvement methodologies, a passion for creating a strong culture of continuous learning, and a keen financial acumen. The candidate must exhibit excellent leadership abilities with a strong will to make a positive difference in the lives of others. In addition to general supervision of the operations, the candidate will provide strategic leadership and vision to all the professionals within the operations team and able to the ability to work collaboratively with team members, other areas of the Biologics team, patients, providers and clients external and internal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary roles of the Sr Director, Clinical Pharmacy Operations fall into five broad categories:

Build an organizational culture in which passion for continuous learning and improvement is innate.

  • Instill and promote a culture of personal and professional engagement among all members of the operating team.

  • Take a positive, equitable approach to developing employees through training, coaching and mentoring.

Shape and develop division strategy and organization.

  • Ensure proper reporting structure with divisions and departments.

  • Ensure collaboration between departments within Pharmacy operations.

  • Help identify opportunities and areas for improvement within each division.

Advise the Vice President/COO on key corporate planning issues that relate and impact the operations of the company.

  • Determine resource allocation among divisions.

  • Keep peers and Vice President/COO informed about business activities, performance, opportunities, and recommended courses of action.

Lead the Directors/Department Managers to evaluate and take actions that are consistent with the company's overall strategy.

  • Meet regularly with direct reports to ensure strategic goals and plans are being fulfilled; as well as operational excellence.

Lead Pharmacy Operations team and be accountable for achievement of quality and performance goals.

  • Ensure adherence to annual operating plans, corporate initiatives and budgets.

  • Improvement of quality performance by working collaboratively with quality and compliance organization, identifying root causes of defects, and developing measurable corrective action plans.   

  • Identify and benchmark industry best practices.

  • Develop operational goals for each division which are aggressive, yet obtainable, and tied to long-term goals of the company

  • Improvement of quality by supporting best practices, processes, or methods and identifying new/needed skills  

  • Develop and execute strategic business framework focused on decreasing quality defects, improving service, lowering dispensing cost, and improving employee engagement

Minimum Requirements

13+ years of Pharmacy Operations experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Critical Skills

  • 10+ years post-graduate experience in specialty pharmacy leadership operations.

  • Extensive experience in supervising large multisite teams and budgets.

  • Ability to work effectively collaborate and work across business streams

  • Demonstrated expertise in motivating others to establish and successfully achieve goals.

  • Demonstrated strong financial acumen within pharmacy operations.

  • Demonstrated skills and expertise with integration and implementation of new pharmacy systems and software.

  • Agile methodology and system development.

  • Proven track record in Six Sigma and Process Improvement experience (CMI, Kaizen.)

  • Experience interfacing with different practice, regulatory and compliance bodies (SBOP, URAC, ACHC, CMS.)

  • Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in good standing.

  • Ability to apply for additional state licensures as needed.

Additional/Preferred Skills

  • Experience in specialty mail service large scale pharmacy leadership operations.

  • Call Center/Telehealth - clinical/practice oversight, and patient care experience.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy/PharmD

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current and unrestricted license in good standing.

Physical Requirements

  • General Office Demands

  • Travel up to 35% between Ft. Worth, TX and Cary, NC.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$152,400 - $254,000
