Job Description Summary
Operates, maintains and repairs process water irrigation equipment while conducting required tests and keeping accurate records of the irrigation operation. Assures that the Land Application system is operated in a manner that satisfies a permit issued by the State of Washington.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Maintain 5S standards, (Sort, Set, Systematize, Shine and Sustain). Keep a neat, clean, orderly work area.
Maintains and promotes safe work practices at all times, assures that safe work practices are being followed in all work groups, and actively participates in safety programs.
Must understand and follow all applicable plant safety policies including but not limited to lockout / tagout procedures.
Understand sequence of operation of irrigation equipment.
Understand the principles for irrigation practices.
Perform accurate and complete sample testing in a manner that satisfies any and all permit or regulatory requirements including preparing samples for shipment to lab for analysis.
Maintain neat and accurate records on the operation of the Land Application.
Assures the efficient, day-to-day operation of all designated equipment through the performance of minor maintenance and repair.
Perform and document equipment inspections, corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance, including the lubrication and inspection of equipment to sustain equipment reliability.
Assures the uninterrupted supply of frying oil and caustic for the processing operation of the plant by monitoring and oversight of the unloading of tanker trucks to the appropriate storage tank designated by the fryer operators.
Assures the day-to-day operation of all designated department equipment by oversight of all maintenance, overhaul, and repair activities.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for pumping out of tanker trucks cars into tanks located in the plant tank room. The trucks replenish the plant supplies of caustic and fry oils. The process involves an accurate understanding of the pumping system, and the proper cleanup of the associated piping system components after use.
Operate various types of farm equipment as required. These include but are not limited to: portable pumps, yard lifts, tractors and pick-up trucks.
Assures the proper and efficient disposal of plant process water by proper operation and minor maintenance of the Land Application system and support equipment.
Corrects MINOR mechanical problems such as electrical and mechanical controls and valves pertaining to sprinkler field automatic operation.
Examples include but are not limited to: repair soil moisture probe cables, repair aluminum irrigation pipes, use torch for thawing and piping repairs, irrigation equipment repair and rebuilding.
Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings/diagrams that are in English.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write accurate information in English. Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one‑on‑one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
