About the Role

The Elsevier Data Catalog (EDC) Business Analyst sits within the Enterprise Data & Analytics business team and works closely with stakeholders and the EDC Development team.  You will report to the Head of Data Analytics - Engagement & Enablement with strong dotted line into the Senior Product Manager, Elsevier Data Catalog. You will be responsible for identifying and analysing business requirements across Elsevier related to the development of the EDC – the front door to all Elsevier data.  You will contribute to the continuing implementation of- and improvement to- the EDC application on the Collibra platform, along with Catalog content growth and user adoption. You will have ownership of specific roadmap activities related to Business Analysis tasks and be required to work according to our Business Analysis Framework . Success is measured against continuous growth in Catalog content, improvement of features and services, and adoption by Elsevier data users.

Responsibilities

  • Analysing, defining and documenting current & future requirements

  • Translating requirements into user stories, testing scenarios, success criteria and user documentation

  • Performing analysis to define Catalog systems integration requirements incl. mapping of data flows & dependencies

  • Gathering requirements for new Catalog features, services and processes to optimise Collibra user experience and self-service capabilities.

  • Researching requirements for continuous Catalog content growth for trusted data incl. data products, BI reports, glossaries, lineage & more

  • Defining Catalog business rules and validations to ensure Catalog data meets quality & compliance standards and data policies

  • Identifying ways to improve user adoption and contributing user documentation & support as required 

  • Assisting with EDC Support for prompt resolution of EDC stakeholder queries

  • Contributing to building and documenting best practices and ways of working in the EDC squad

  • Representing EDC in all relevant channels across the organisation to ensure Catalog roadmap is delivered successfully and solves data challenges

  • Contributing to the EDC strategy & roadmap ensuring alignment with Elsevier goals

    Requirements

    • Have a deep curiosity and a keen passion for data

    • Have the ability to build effective relationships across the organisation and influence stakeholders to action

    • Display proven experience as a Business Analyst identifying and delivering improvements that make a difference

    • Demonstrate deep knowledge of data cataloguing, data management, analysis and processing. Experience of working in an Agile, Scrum or Kanban environment

    • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal and presentation skills including communicating complex technical content to a range of audiences

    • Experience of coordinating business user acceptance testing and planning & facilitating workshops
