The opportunity: 

 

Responsible for overall actuarial direction, operations and management of actuarial resources. Is the Appointed Actuary for DentaQuest and Legacy SLF prepaid Dental companies. Designs the financial management processes that integrate investment, product and corporate strategies. Represents Sun Life at regulatory bodies, and other organizations. Participates in development of functional strategy. Has budget responsibility.

 

How you will contribute: 

 

Lead the development, implementation and documentation of valuation assumptions for Stop Loss and Dental products for all reserve bases: IFRS, NAIC, and Tax

 

• Ensure the accurate and timely calculation of monthly reserves for all managed group products

• Maintains detailed reports to support change analysis

• Acts as the Appointed Actuary for DentaQuest legal entities as well as small block of prepaid Dental companies

• Oversee the completion of all monthly, quarterly and year-end regulatory reporting of actuarial items

• Support the development of financial forecasts

Respond to internal and external audits for managed group products

• Maintain and improve computer models and associated system infrastructure that supports valuation activities

• Conduct financial analyses of the profitability of specific group products as requested

• Manage staff of two to three actuarial students

 

What you will bring with you: 

 

Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries with 5+ years actuarial experience

 

Microsoft Office, ability to comprehend system flows

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to independently direct projects and support staff within the scope of the position

• Valuation and/or group product experience a plus

·       Southern California region: 160,000-240,000 annually

·       Central California region: 168,700-253,100 annually

·       Northern California region: 180,300-270,500 annually

 

If you are a Minnesota, Colorado or Nevada resident, the salary range for this position is 152,700-229,100 annually

 

If you are a Illinois, Connecticut or Maryland resident, the salary range for this position is 160,000-240,000 annually

 

If you are Washington, Washington D.C., and Rhode Island resident, the salary range for this position is 168,700-253,100 annually

 

If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is 180,300-270,500 annually
