This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, which translates to 2-3 days minimum per week in the office.

The HarbourVest Secondary Investment Team has been a pioneer and leader in the secondary market since making its first investment in 1986. There are over 60 investment professionals on the team today spread across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. HarbourVest is widely considered a leader in the complex end of the secondary market, including the rapidly expanding GP-led market where HarbourVest is actively leading and structuring some of the largest transactions in the market today. The team is investing out of our 11th dedicated secondary fund and invests approximately $7-8 billion globally into secondary opportunities each year.

Secondary Investment Team Summer Analysts will be actively involved in all phases of the investment process and gain exposure to a variety of transaction types including the purchase of limited partnership interests in private equity funds and GP-led Continuation Fund transactions involving the purchase of one or more direct company interests. As an industry generalist, Summer Analysts will gain exposure to companies across industries, including but not limited to, Consumer and Retail, Healthcare, Financial Institutions, Industrials, and Technology.

Upon completion of a successful summer analyst program, there is an opportunity for Summer Analysts to secure a full time Analyst position on the Secondary Investment Team in July 2026.

The ideal candidate is someone who is/has:

  • Hardworking and able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • The ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities and target dates simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

What you will do:

  • Evaluate new private equity secondary investment opportunities by conducting detailed due diligence on companies, researching industries and competitors, and interviewing general partners and company management
  • Prepare financial models on companies, funds, and transactions and author investment committee materials as a member of deal teams
  • Monitor of existing transactions by attending general partner update calls, reviewing quarterly reporting, and staying abreast of the latest industry news
  • Each Summer Analyst will also have ownership over a summer long project which will be presented the team at the end of the program
  • And other responsibilities as required

What you bring:

  • Strong proficiency in quantitative analysis, corporate financial concepts, analytical thinking, and Excel
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Education Preferred:

  • College degree in-progress- B.A. or B.S.
  • Candidates graduating in December 2025 or Spring 2026

Experience:

  • Coursework and/or prior internship experience in Investments, Finance or related fields (preferred but not required)
