The Team

The Payments domain in CBA brings together the process, people and technology assets supporting real-time, bulk electronic, cheques, high value and international payments processing for the Bank. The team have the monumental task of ensuring that 40% of the Australian economy are able to transact over $90 billion a day using the Bank’s services in a reliable manner. With the payments technology systems being at the heart of the Bank, almost every customer-facing channel relies on payments services in one way or another. The Batch Payments crew manages a range of payment products including Direct Entry, BPAY, and cheques.

Do work that matters:
As a Product Owner in Batch Payments, you will lead and define the product vision, goals and roadmap, ensuring maximum output and quality from the squad, with a focus on overall batch payments resiliency. You will also need to apply domain expertise to support prioritisation and successful achievement of business and squad objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of product roadmaps and engage with stakeholders/business units to manage delivery.
  • Define product vision and goals in collaboration with customer and stakeholders.
  • Apply expertise to support prioritisation, balance trade-offs and successfully achieve business and customer objectives.
  • Accountable for end-to-end value delivery and product lifecycle management.
  • Accountable for addressing impediments, driving decisions and resolving escalations.
  • Drive product exploration and formulate hypotheses to validate product strategy.
  • Support team metric improvements i.e. team health, agile maturity in partnership with Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters.
  • Identify, articulate and manage risks and compliance across streams of work.
  • Maintain a healthy and prioritised backlog to deliver business and customer outcomes.
  • Engage business and technical stakeholders to ensure prioritisation is understood and agreed to.
  • Manage the Squad’s performance to defined objectives including OKR tracking, etc.
  • Contribute to best practices for the Product Owner community within CBA.
  • Role model continuous improvement and customer focus.​
  • Drive squad effectiveness and agile maturity (i.e. sprint burn down, release burn up, and squad/team health) in partnership with Agile Coaches and Performance Leads.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Have proven Product Owner or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience as a Product Manager / Business Analyst / Delivery lead would also be considered
  • Are experienced in defining product roadmap and delivery of product vision
  • Self-driven, accountable for delivery, critical thinker, strong problem solving skills
  • Experience working with external vendor
  • Is a strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Experience with Agile methodology, working within an Agile Matrix would be ideal
  • Prior experience working with onshore & offshore mixed squad
