ABOUT ROCKET LAB
Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations. Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, becoming one of the most frequently launched rockets in the world. Neutron will be our next rocket on the launch pad, an advanced 13-tonne payload class, reusable rocket to launch the mega constellations of the future. Our space systems business includes our extensive line of satellites and components that have enabled more than 1,700 missions including the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA Psyche Mission, Artemis I, Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and more.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Rocket Lab operates with a globally distributed team, bringing together specialized knowledge essential for the effective delivery of pivotal programs. The Program Manager role within the Terrestrial Software department is critical in facilitating collaboration among Rocket Lab's three core divisions—Electron, Neutron, and Space Systems—while working closely with the five distinctive Software teams. This position ensures a cohesive approach to managing projects and aligning each team’s objectives with the overall mission of Rocket Lab. The Software teams cater to unique business needs that encompass the support, maintenance, and expansion of crucial systems such as the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for building rockets and satellites, as well as developing Mission Control applications and telemetry and telecommand platforms essential for their operation.
The ideal candidate will play a vital role in steering these complex initiatives, coordinating cross-functional work streams, and securing on-time deliverables from the Terrestrial Software department. This strategic yet hands-on role demands a proven project management professional capable of synchronizing technical delivery with operational goals to propel Rocket Lab's success. The successful applicant will also support the development, testing, and qualification of hardware components for space exploration, and in doing so, drive the optimization of business processes and operations through automation and bespoke mission-critical applications.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
In this role, you'll drive cross-functional best practices for software development, aligning with global teams. You'll accurately estimate technical requirements for projects, ensuring strategic consistency with company objectives. Your ability to engage the right people and coach teams on top project planning practices will be key. You'll track Annual Operating Plan (AOP) items, manage stakeholder expectations with clear communication, and implement change control processes smoothly. Utilizing modern methodologies, you'll tailor and integrate a project management framework for the Software Teams within Terrestrial Software. Your coordination with internal and external stakeholders will keep projects on track and deliverables on target.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other’s backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
