Following the recently announced multi-million USD acquisition of Belkin Vision, Alcon have further strengthened their commitment to supporting the treatment of glaucoma by acquiring Belkin Vision’s direct selective laser trabeculoplasty (DSLT) technology . As a result, Alcon has begun building a bespoke team of Surgical Glaucoma Laser Specialists to cement their status as the world leader in eye care and surgical glaucoma. 

We have an exciting new vacancy in our team for a ‘Surgical Glaucoma Laser Specialist’ covering the UK & Ireland.

Job Profile:

The purpose of the Surgical Glaucoma Laser Specialist is to work with territory-wide glaucoma surgeons to sell Alcon DSLT equipment. Facilitate entire selling process including demo for surgeons and staff and thereby contributing to increased install base, sales growth and commercial objectives in the allocated territory. In this role the typical duties include:

  • To become a certified DSLT Trainer

  • Contribute to sales targets in allocated territory.

  • Increase DSLT install base across territory.

  • Drive procedural uptake with install base  

  • Comply with all legal requirements relating to role and business practice.

  • Generate and develop new business to meet specified goals.

  • Drive synergies with rest of Alcon SX portfolio, especially Glaucoma

  • Plan and manage territory.

  • Ensure segmentation and targeting is in place and aligned with country lead and that all customers are visited on a monthly basis.

  • Maintain and nurture existing client relationships.

  • Understand and communicate information regarding company products, services, and policies and procedures to new and existing clients.

What you’ll bring to Alcon:

  • Sales experience in hospital medical sales is a must. We would strongly prefer candidates to have surgical/medical devices experiences and or ophthalmic sales experience (ideally in Glaucoma or cataract surgery).

  • Excellent selling, relationship building and people-engagement skills. Equally comfortable demonstrating these remotely using virtual platforms as well as in person.

  • Very strong ability to take on, understand and converse in technically demanding, medical/scientific knowledge and language.

  • Ability to thrive in a surgical environment.

  • Proven track record of success in sales.

  • Experience and demonstrable success in new product launches.

  • Professional manner, proficiency, attention to detail, outstanding personal organizational skills.

  • Strong customer focus
