Mission

Role Summary/Purpose:

  • The person will be responsible for the Diversified Products /C-Class parts Commodity Strategy including Supplier Management, Deflation, Parts localisation, Resourcing and Supplier Performance,  
  • This position will also be responsible to driving deflation for diversified Products commodities of India Transit Business as per annual budgeting plans.
  • He will own the yearly savings and frame agreements for the Diversified commodity.
  • This person will be responsible for driving & to handle the Diversified Commodity supplier’s to meet program level deliverables on cost out projects and localization.
  • This position will act as Liaison between Strategic Sourcing Team & Site Teams including Operations for their requirements.
  • Diversified products & C-Class parts = Fasteners, Fittings, Springs, Rubber  parts like O rings & Seals, Fittings , Bought out Catalogue parts , Hoses, Chains, Gauges, Loctite & paints.

Responsibilities

Commodity & Supplier Management:

  • Deliver deflation as per the annual target for direct material buy for India Transit business
  • Develop technical and regional supplier market intelligence.
  • Closely work with Bid and product management team to commit the lowest direct material cost to win the business and the same cost should be achieved during the project execution
  • To take complete ownership of assigned project’s Total cost ownership (TCO), drive and improve Project contract Margin.
  • Instrumental in playing a key role in ToTs (Transfer of Technologies) for Transit Business
  • Establish the strategy for  Commodities related Procurements, including the “make or buy” decisions.
  • Build, qualify, develop, and manage the regional & import supplier panel including rationalization.
  • Define and deploy supplier risk assessments including sole, single and dual sourcing plans.
  • Collaborate with Central Sourcing category teams and Other Transit Site Sourcing Teams to identify deflation opportunities for Transit Business.
  • Create & execute Contracts with suppliers for supporting the Sourcing requirements needed for Site.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Drive and monitor selection process of new suppliers.
  • Negotiate Suppliers to avail best pricing to win Tenders and place long Term contracts.

Budget/Forecast:

  • Participate in Annual budgeting exercise and provide input on direct material forecasted spend.
  • Monitors price index monthly and drives action plans to achieve optimum Spend.
  • Request for Quotes:
  • Read the Supplier Drawings, Purchase Specifications & manufacturing requirements for the parts & identify suppliers to support the new Part requirements.
  • Manages RFQ, offer evaluation, negotiation and contracting: frame agreements
  • Optimizes PO payment terms implements supplier payment process automation.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Organize the  QBR Meetings with suppliers and raise view point and ask of India Transit Business.
  • Drive and monitor selection process of new suppliers

CFT ( Cross Functional Teams) Liaison

  • Liaison between various Functions, Site Sourcing, Commodity Sourcing, Operations, to prioritize  Site spend.
  • Work with SIOP, SCM Teams to ensure fulfilment best in class in the business.
  • Create visibility of complete supply chain & optimize the Cost by identifying opportunities & ideas for deflation.
  • Support New Business for Transit Organization to identify potential Sources
  • Ensure that the commodity strategies are implemented all the time during NPI project, anticipate and communicate new supplier and technology needs.
  • Deploy Standard APQP process while sourcing components, Sub-assemblies, products with the support of SQA.

Operational:

  • Drives sourcing competitiveness for existing and standard parts.
  • Responsible for re-sourcing of parts/assemblies.
  • Responsible for contract amendments and re-negotiations.
  • Intervenes in major supplier issues once escalated.
  • Execute the Contracts with supplier & work on the Warranty recovery from suppliers for established issues.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor of Engineering / B. Tech degree from an accredited university or college.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 12 to 15 Years of experience in Sourcing/Procurement in Industries, MNC preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time
