Join Workiva on an innovative journey as the Director of Engineering for our Workflow Product Team. We’re seeking a visionary leader who will guide the future of our Workflow solutions, collaborating with top-tier teams to deliver high-impact results for our customers. In this role, you'll champion effective system design, foster seamless cross-functional collaboration, and lead a team working across our Workflow areas, including Processes, Tasks, Chains, Integrated Automations, and Scripting.
What You'll Do
Strategic & Technical Leadership
Drive business objectives for our Workflow solutions, shaping product roadmaps to meet evolving business and customer needs across various integrated automation, tasking, and process-building tools
Collaborate across functions to build a high-performing engineering team, managing budgets, mentoring teams, and ensuring alignment with company goals
Accelerate product development and guide architectural decisions, empowering technical teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions
People & Operations Management
Attract, develop, and reward top engineering talent to sustain a highly engaged team
Implement and optimize operational processes to ensure alignment with Workiva's strategy, streamlining efficiencies across different Workflow solution areas
Foster an atmosphere of respect, continuous learning, humor, and a shared commitment to business goals and customer success
Drive quality and productivity improvements, ensuring success within budget and time constraints
Hold managers accountable for Workiva's performance practices and ensure fair, equitable rewards
Actively coach managers to uphold Workiva values, resolve conflicts, and create a culture of trust and psychological safety
Customer-Focused Development
Partner with product teams to gain a deep understanding of customer needs and ensure alignment with business goals, especially in creating seamless, user-focused solutions for processes, task management, data chaining, integrated automation, and scripting
Lead the Workflow team in identifying and addressing customer challenges, delivering high-quality, user-focused solutions
Uncover new development opportunities to support Workflow product expansion and business growth
Architectural Leadership
Oversee technical decision-making, ensuring seamless coordination across Workflow product areas
Provide leadership for innovative solutions, guiding product architects, and aligning development teams with strategic objectives
Organizational Product Development Planning
Align talent, resources, and structures to deliver effective product outcomes
Manage dependencies, support team capabilities, and ensure delivery of high-quality solutions.
Facilitate continuous productivity improvements within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), collaborating with cross-functional leaders for alignment and efficiency
What You'll Need
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree
3+ years in direct people management roles, including supervisor experience of managers
Preferred Qualifications
Strong emotional intelligence and a proven track record of effective leadership
Experience leading engineering teams in the development of workflow platforms or products
Broad industry knowledge with strategic insight into technology and architecture
Extensive experience delivering products to external customers
Deep understanding of full-stack development, with a focus on technologies such as Java/Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, and Dart
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a history of architecting scalable software solutions
Clear, effective communication skills and a customer-centric approach
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Travel & Working Conditions
Up to 25% travel for team events and internal meetings
Reliable internet access for any periods of remote work
How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $167,000.00 - $284,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
