This is a great opportunity to lead the Acquisition squad, which is responsible to help people understand the Rakuten Rewards’ value proposition and make them successful members of the Rewards platform through Partnerships, SEM, SEO, Referral and Social Media channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead our direct merchant integration team: Deep integration with mobile SDK’s and merchant development teams to allow seamless experiences for users that want to shop directly in our merchant partners mobile apps.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle for our inter-application lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of projects. Establish robust processes and uphold rigorous quality standards to ensure each product meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Foster Trust and Transparency: Cultivate an environment of trust and openness within your team and with stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Build and Inspire a Stellar Team: Attract, motivate, and retain a diverse team of top-tier engineers, fostering an atmosphere where talent thrives and innovation flourishes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven track record of driving Marketing and Partnerships initiatives through the development of innovative technologies and experiences, including APIs, tools, and feeds, to enhance member acquisition
  • Proven ability to drive strategic engineering initiatives beyond product development, with a focus on building infrastructure that supports and enhances product capabilities
  • Experience with driving large scale and cross-functional projects to the finish line in timely fashion across the platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the entire software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, deployments, and monitoring.
  • Strong passion for optimizing developer productivity.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a high-quality, high intelligence engineering team.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Toronto office
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and market demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster trust and transparency with stakeholders and team members.
  • Experience with technologies such as Swift, Kotlin, Kafka, relational databases, Server API design, Rules Engine systems, LaunchDarkly, Iterable, and Hightouch is a huge plus

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS        

  • 2+ years of progressive management leadership experience directing high visibility initiatives.
  • 7+ years of experience in designing and architecting scalable systems, with strong expertise in web and mobile application development
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base compensation for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
