Job Summary

The Captive Financial Management Accountant will interact and collaborate with the Underwriting team, IT personnel, TPA’s, Reinsurers/Captives, External and Internal Auditors, and other external/internal clients on a day-to-day basis. They will provide all necessary finance support for an assigned book of business, with a focus on accuracy, meeting prescribed deadlines and client services. This role will regularly communicate with external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and ownership for the client facing relationship for an assigned book of business. This includes:

  • The preparation of the Reinsurance Statement of Account (cession/bordereau) to the Reinsurance Brokers and/or Reinsurers in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the terms of the Reinsurance Contract.

  • Preparation and Processing of any Cash Receipts and Disbursements, and the payment and/or recovery of reinsurance. Preparation of Letter of Credit Funding Requirements on a quarterly basis and submission to Reinsurers/Captives.

  • Research and analysis based on client requests on an ad hoc basis.

  • Cultivate strong business partnerships while gaining a thorough understanding of the business being supported; leverage understanding of business to respond to internal and external questions and requests.  Work closely with underwriting team to understand the business and provide the financial operational support needed.

  • Communication and Interaction with Underwriting team, IT personnel, TPA’s, Reinsurers/Captives, and various external and internal contacts on day-to-day basis.

  • Reconciliation of the General Ledger for accounts that pertain to Alternative Market’s Balance Sheet.

  • Completion of Key Assignments/Special Projects that may be assigned from time to time.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze data, including ability to recognize anomalies in data.

  • Intermediate Excel skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Excellent accounting and finance working knowledge.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years accounting or finance experience within the insurance/reinsurance industry.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$79,900 - $107-900/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.  The above range may be modified in the future
