Job Description:

Summary:

The Corporate Business Development Specialist is a member of our Corporate Business Development team working closely with Business Development and Corporate Communications staff. The individual in this role will have responsibility for a variety of tasks related to the strategy and data that allows Barr to identify, attract, and nurture clients.  

Responsibilities include:  

  • Conducting marketing research to support market sector, key client, and select company and business unit market objectives.   

  • Coordinating Market Sector Forum and Client Development Team (CDT) programs and their strategy efforts, working with forum leaders to align teams with program expectations. This includes scheduling and facilitating meetings; driving strategic thought and actions to help position Barr for future opportunities with markets and clients; coordinating activities related to client loyalty, long-lead pursuits and positioning; coordinating and collaborating with communications staff, Client Experience program manager, the Client Information Systems team, and other stakeholders to facilitate support for program and event activities; and supporting related industry and client events.  

  • Supporting Business Unit Target Client and Marketing Campaign teams programs and their strategy efforts 

  • Coordinating and leading Corporate Business Development initiatives, as necessary. Initially these could include Environmental Social and Governance (ESG), Decarbonization, and Grant Tracking program efforts.

  • Providing communications and marketing support to the client events team to identify and articulate their messages, work with communications team for content development and posting, and coordinate the execution of these efforts.

  • Monitoring RFP and intel data resources for Business Development and Communications teams.

  • The primary focus will be on the manufacturing market sector forum and related CDTs, with some support also provided for other market sector forums.

 

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field

  • Experience leading activities within cross-functional teams

  • Superior analytical skills, attention to detail, and follow-through

  • Ability to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across teams

  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to help meet project deadlines

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record   

Preferred Qualifications:   

  • Related work experience with business development and communications functions in a professional services firm

  • Proficiency in supporting digital marketing and social media strategies

  • Understanding of issues and opportunities for engineering and environmental consulting associated with ESG and decarbonization

  • Proficiency preparing visual presentation materials

  • Experience with Deltek VantagePoint  

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota office.
