Job Responsibilities:

•       Operate and maintain a variety of analytical instruments, metrology tools, and laboratory equipment used for characterization of advanced materials.

•       Be responsible for operation and maintenance of plasma focused ion beam (PFIB), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and related lab equipment.

•       Develop analytical techniques and applications to solve customer problems.

•       Establish and/or refine SOPs for data collection and analysis.

•       Collaborate with cross disciplinary thought leaders to evolve materials design for improved product performance.

•       Analyze data, generate process property correlations, and expand current understanding of materials properties.

•       Use commercial software for data processing, statistical analysis, and image analysis.

•       Streamline data analysis and improve methods to enhance and expedite learnings with coding, scripting, or comparable skills.

•       Manage database ensuring batch records and corresponding characterization data are complete.

•       Communicate timelines for publication of data and/or any delays that may occur because of hardware or other issues.

•       Work on a cross disciplinary team with an open mind to new ideas in a fast-paced startup company.

•       Demonstrate ability to perform advanced scientific problem solving.

•       Generate reports and effectively communicate results and conclusions to team members, collaborators, and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

•   Master's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field AND 3+ years of related experience ...OR

Bachelor's degree i Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field AND 5+ years of related experience .

•       Proven track record in materials science with expertise in materials characterization, failure analysis, reliability, engineering, and data analysis.

•       Extensive hands-on experience using Plasma FIB, SEM, EDS, sample preparation, and related analytical instruments providing optical, physical, chemical, electrochemical, and structural details about materials properties.

•       Familiarity with Thermo Fisher Helios 5 PFIB and JEOL JSM-7200F Field Emission SEM.

•       Extensive experience analyzing data to extract relevant information, identify trends, and determine process-property correlations.

•       Strong organizational skills to streamline workflow, maximize productivity, and manage data files.

•       Excellent analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret materials, processes and characterization data.

•       Experience querying databases and using scientific graphing and data analysis software for data fitting and statistical analysis.

•       Experience compiling data sets, generating correlations, and presenting data/results to key stakeholders.

•       Excellent written and oral communication skills.

•       Ability to work independently and ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams. 

•       Ability to coordinate and oversee work with technicians.

•       Strong multitasking and time management skills with ability to independently set priorities to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Carbon allotrope knowledge and exposure to manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with air sensitive materials.
  • Experience working with polymer composite materials.

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between

$128,200.00 - $192,400.00

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

This compensation and benefits information is based on Lyten’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. We generally do not negotiate on salary once we have made an offer.  The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
