We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to assist us with critical operational support of databases across a wide variety of Enterprise and specialized applications. This role will provide database support for projects and special demand initiatives. The role involves multiple database platforms and many different operating environments, on premises and in the cloud.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent

  • Seven years or more DBA experience supporting Oracle and MS SQL server in a medium to high complexity environment

  • Proven experience working with High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurations with Oracle and MS SQL 

  • Two years or more experience with database deployment and database migrations in cloud environments, AZURE and/or AWS 

  • Experience with IaaC and scripting tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell  

  • Demonstrable proficiency working with different database monitoring tools (OEM and/or DPA and/or Datadog) 

  • Good working knowledge of MongoDB, DB2 and open-source DB technologies MySQL and PostgreSQL 

  • Operational experience with Oracle Golden Gate 

  • Certification in database technologies and cloud certifications (AWS or Azure) would be an advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Advise and participate in Installation, Configuration, Maintenance, Backup /Recovery, and troubleshooting activities related to database software and related products

  • Work with our vendor partners in a technical lead role to guide and support database operational activities  

  • Actively participate in a team environment, sharing your knowledge and experience 

  • Actively acquire new skills working in new operating environments including public and private cloud environments

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work

There will be an on-call component to this job (to be discussed in an interview setting)
