terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage.

The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match.

By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products/power insurance to utilities, SMEs, and industrial players and create virtual storage capacity for PV and wind farms.

What we are currently hiring for

We are looking for a Strategy & Business Development Associate (m/f/d) to join our Strategy & Commercial team. In this role, you will take on a variety of strategic initiatives that are crucial for terralayr’s growth, often working on projects that take us from “zero to one.” Your work will be instrumental in shaping our tech-focused business and expanding our customer base. Reporting directly to the VP of Strategy & Commercial, you will be a key player in driving our company’s success.

What we are currently hiring for - Your role in more detail

  • Strategic Analysis & Recommendations – Develop well-researched decision recommendations for terralayr’s senior leadership, grounded in in-depth strategic analysis. Your insights will directly influence the direction of our business.

  • Project Ownership – Lead diverse internal strategic projects from start to finish, taking full responsibility for their successful execution. Your role will require a hands-on approach to ensure these initiatives deliver meaningful results.

  • Business Development – Identify and develop new business opportunities, contributing significantly to the ramp-up of terralayr’s customer business. You’ll be at the forefront of our efforts to expand our market presence.

  • Product Vision – Collaborate closely with our Product and Software Engineering teams to help shape our product vision. Use market and customer insights to ensure that our offerings meet the evolving needs of the energy sector.

  • Support to VP Strategy & Commercial – Act as a trusted partner to our VP Strategy & Commercial, providing support across various strategic topics and initiatives.

What we are looking for - Your Qualifications

  • Experience – Minimum 2 years of full-time work experience in a high-performance environment such as strategy consulting, venture capital, or an entrepreneurial role in a startup.

  • Technical Skills – Excellent presentation and financial modeling skills. Ability to create compelling narratives and analyses that resonate with senior leadership.

  • Entrepreneurial Mindset – A proactive approach with a strong bias for action. You have proven execution skills and the ability to drive projects to successful completion.

  • Communication – Very strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and manage stakeholders across various levels of seniority and functions.

  • Problem-Solving – Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver effective solutions.

  • Passion for Energy Transition – A strong interest in contributing to the energy transition, working alongside a driven team to build the future of sustainable energy.

  • Language Proficiency – Full business proficiency in German and English.
