Position Summary: The Instructional Designer is responsible for leading the content development and learning management system (LMS) strategy. The position works consultatively with members of the L&D team, business leaders and stakeholders to analyze needs, make design recommendations, develop and implement solutions and evaluate effectiveness. The Instructional Designer also performs multiple, high-level administrative functions in support of the Armstrong Group’s strategic direction; and, performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of unique and engaging learning & development content and programs to support the strategic initiatives of the Armstrong Group
  • Manage consistent, branded and engaging deployment via the Learning Management System (LMS) and other delivery options with a focus on an effective learner experience while meeting deployment timelines
  • Provide consultation to business leaders with intent of exploiting the use of the LMS in onboarding, career pathing and other key company initiatives
  • Collaborate with learning & development colleagues, business leaders and stakeholders on end-to-end production of content including visual assets and copy
  • Create, update, distribute and maintain training records and metrics
  • Maintain LMS user accounts, resolve technical issues and educate other administrators and designers
  • Create, publish, and archive online courses, assign training curriculum, and add/delete resources
  • Update course content and coordinate learning curriculum including but not limited to curriculum review, grammar, spell check and utilization of style guidelines
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to analyze developmental needs and recommend training methods
  • Conduct training and provide support as needed to system administrators
  • Provide LMS and training demos on an as needed basis
  • Maintain in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the related field
  • Perform all other duties/projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of e-learning, web-based, and video concepts with a wide degree of creativity
  • Ability to communicate effectively both one-on-one and with groups
  • Experience in program design utilizing MS Office, Flash, HTML, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and so on
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative
  • Excellent writing skills or technical writing experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Desire to constantly add value, meet or exceed customers’ needs and expectations
  • Adaptability to changing assignments and multiple priorities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Business Administration, Marketing, or training related degree preferred with 3+ years experience
