Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the work of security officer patrol team. Provide security support and shift leadership for the facility. Perform all required functions of patrol officer in maintaining security and safety of associates and property.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees, trains, coordinates activities and schedules security team, ensuring all required shifts are covered. Produces daily reports and compiles team reports. Trains new security officers.
  • Serves as liaison to tenants and neighboring businesses on security related matters, reviewing any issues that arise with Manager.
  • Monitors and arranges shift activities according to schedule requirements and staff availability. Establishes and coordinates work schedules and post coverage/rotation.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with associates and visitors. Answers questions and assists visitors and associates. Provides escort as necessary.
  • Patrols assigned area on foot, checking for any issues, suspicious activity or persons. Ensures all security posts are manned and maintained at all times.
  • Plans and coordinates security operations for special events. Performs other duties as assigned
  • Investigates and reports hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to manager. Responds to emergency situations. Assists with emergency procedures and may direct public safety officials.

Nature and Scope

  • Problems are typically difficult and/or high impact. Troubleshoots complex support or operational problems for junior level associates.
  • Under limited supervision, independently resolves issues and applies a variety of methods to develop customized solutions. May lead the daily operations of a department or team. Work typically involves infrequent review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
  • Assists with supervisory duties but does not have hiring/firing authority. Trains, delegates tasks, and reviews the work of junior level associates.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 7+ years of experience in area of responsibility.
