Job Title:              Fabricator I                                                    FLSA Status:  Hourly, Non-Exempt 

Department:      Operations                                                      Reports To:   Team Lead I 

Job Summary: 

Fabricators perform tasks that are necessary to the production process. They aid in blade layout, operation of press brake, spot welding, and use of a tig welder. Successful candidates with strong attention to detail and the ability to closely follow instructions from engineering department. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • None 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints 

  • Constructing base templates if necessary 

  • Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines 

  • Setting up metalwork machinery including cold saw, drill presses, band saw, brakes, tape measure and/or calipers 

  • Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work 

  • Fabricating and constructing metal components 

  • Grinding and finishing completed products 

  • Performing quality checks on completed products 

  • Conforming with state and company safety regulations 

  • Completing job reports 

  • All other duties as assigned  

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints 

  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including cold saw, tape measure, band saw, general power tools and drill presses 

  • Good understanding of quality control principles 

  • Good communication skills 

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition 

  • Ability to lift and manipulate large metal pieces 

  • Ability to stand for long periods 

  • Ability to work in a Non-A/C environment 

Education and Experience: 

  • AWS certification preferred 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required  

  • 0-2 years of experience as a Metal Fabricator  

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:  

  • While performing duties of the job, incumbent is required to stand for full shift; walk; sit; use hand to finger handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear 

  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up 75 pounds 

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus 

  • Non-A/C work area; the noise level can periodically be higher than normal, hearing protection may be required
