The Opportunity

Our Minnetonka location is seeking a high-caliber, motivated, self-driven individual to join our manufacturing engineering team for ablation catheter manufacturing in Abbott’s Electrophysiology business unit.

Main Purpose of Role

Individuals in this role will support the operations team as a 2nd shift Manufacturing technician working with assemblers to implement manufacturing best practices, investigate process issues, dissect scrap devices to understand the defects, and determine root causes, and troubleshoot equipment. Additionally, this position will support projects aimed towards designing and developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality. This individual will have a unique opportunity to make a mark on the organization while working on state-of-the-art products. This individual will be able to make a significant P&L impact on the organization.  

What You’ll Work On

  • 2nd shift front-line supporting the Operations team
  • Learn manufacturing processes, techniques, and best practices and support the Operations team in coaching and training assemblers
  • Perform scrap dissection and support investigations into potential root causes
  • Support projects which include new production equipment, process improvements, cost reductions, and new product introductions
  • Instruct production personnel in the manufacturing and testing of product devices
  • Recommend and implement processes, tooling, and equipment changes for improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Interpret test data, analyze product performance, develop summaries, and assist in the initiation of yield improvements
  • Assist maintenance team in ensuring continuous operation of production equipment
  • Assist engineers in troubleshooting safety, quality, or process issues
  • Summarize information to communicate across shifts and with other functional areas

  • Be innovative, resourceful, and work with minimal direction
  • Have excellent organization, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams    
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.  Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Shift

2nd Shift, Monday – Thursday, 3:30 pm – 2:00 am with potential overtime

Required  Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to work with assemblers and other non-technical personnel
  • Ability to teach and coach others
  • Strong verbal and written communications with the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams
  • Results-oriented
  • Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner to meet assigned deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under limited supervision
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance

Preferred  Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of manufacturing technician experience preferred, but not required
  • Medical device experience preferred but not required
  • Trade school certification, specialized training/apprenticeship and/or equivalent in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or other equivalent

The base pay for this position is

$20.55 – $41.15/hour

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
