Job Description:

What is the AARC?

Our analytics roles provide quantitative and qualitative analysis for the development of new or existing strategies, models, products, and improving programs or systems. We help drive fact-based decisions by providing critical insights into consumer, product and behavioral data. These roles also leverage AI/ML in automated decisioning systems to mitigate fraud and other risks, increase marketing performance, and improve customer interactions. At Discover, we leverage data and analytics throughout the product and customer lifecycles to improve our products, strategies, processes, and capabilities.

The Advanced Analytics Resource Center (AARC), is a rapid development program that will establish Discover as the leader in driving value through the application of analytics, delivery of insights and decisioning intelligence.

What You’ll Do

Discover’s Analytics Development Program at the AARC is designed to accelerate learning and career development of participants. Our goal is to enable passionate, motivated, curious, and solutions-oriented professionals and give them the training, resources, skills, and experiences to create value for the business while advancing their careers.

Participants can expect to:

  • Work alongside experienced technical managers and contribute to challenging and meaningful assignments across Discover, ranging from consumer banking, credit risk management, Anti-Money Launder/Bank Secrecy Act, fraud mitigation, customer service, etc.

  • Participate in a structured learning curriculum and training to increase development and impact

  • Develop cross-functional industry and market knowledge, along with technical and leadership skills

  • Receive ongoing feedback and coaching from project leads, performance managers, and a dedicated program management team

  • Engage with other participants as a cohort to expand knowledge sharing, collaboration, and professional network

  • Explore various career pathways in analytics, modeling, and data engineering

  • Move to a post-program position within 12-24 months

  • Three Days a week in office with one day being in Discover Headquarters in Riverwoods, IL and Two days in Chicago (350 N. Orleans Chicago)

How You’ll Do It

  • Develops advanced analytics solutions including customer segmentation, optimization, test & design of experiments and prescriptive analytics to solve business problems. Operates as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, test and design of experiment, analysis methodology, modeling & application, and financial impact analysis. 

  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to understand their business needs, formulated and completed end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations. Delivers effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.

  • Establishes and maintains effective performance tracking; identify improvement opportunity, form hypothesis, propose, design and implement tests to drive strategy enhancement and optimization.

  • Manages multiple priorities, communicate business performance and project progress to management & business partners

  • Develops and automates reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs. Facilitates implementation of work product and ensure accuracy.

  • Consistently follows standard work processes and documentation requirements. Recommends improvement to work processes to increase efficiency while maintaining quality of work. Continuously improves technical and leadership skills through training and development

Qualifications You’ll Need

The Basics

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Sciences, or related

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Marketing Analytics, Optimization, Operations Analytics, Modeling/Data Science, or related field

Compensation:

The base pay for this role is $103,000.00 annually. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
