What you'll do...

Position: Staff Software Engineer

Job Location: 702 SW 8th Street, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Leads the work of other small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long- term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes. Troubleshoots business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; formulating an action plan; directing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues; and completing online documentation. Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, Web Operations, project management, business and user experience teams; obtaining cross-function approvals; driving proof-of-concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas. Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams; partnering with cross-functional teams across the business; developing assessments of key opportunities; documenting project scopes; developing long-range plans and project timelines; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives within the organization; and resolving technology differences across teams through informed discussions. Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or related experience; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field plus 6 years of experience in software engineering or related experience.

Skills required: Must have experience with: Developing application using object-oriented programming languages like Java, C#, and Python; Designing and implementing REST API services in Java Spring Boot, Python; Developing single page application using JavaScript libraries and NodeJS; Developing highly scalable, loosely coupled microservices using messaging patterns like Kafka, pubsub topics; Developing database persistent operations using data frameworks like JPA, Entity frameworks to work with RDBMS databases such as AzureSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Maria DB, Postgress or NoSQL database like Cosmos DB, Mongo DB; Performing code review, code walkthrough, demo features and mentor developers and help them in technical issues; Writing unit tests using JUnit, Mockito for Java, NUnit for .net to meet the standard code coverage threshold; Implementing OpenID connect authentication and Oauth2 based authorization for applications; Implementing SSO, LDAP based authentication and authorization for applications and SAAS platforms; Implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and using Git for source control management; Configure SonarQube and resolved security bugs as part of build process; Deploying distributed application in containerized platform like Kubernetes, docker and dynamically scaling it; Implementing centralized logging platform like Splunk and tracing mechanism for distributed application; Deploying and configuring applications in public cloud like Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and private Kubernetes clusters; Various compute platforms (VM, AppEngine and Functions); Storage products (Blob Storage, Block Storage and SAN); Traffic distribution products (Application Load Balancing, and API Proxy); Security products (Virtual Private Cloud, VLAN, Subnets, Routing); Designing high-level and develop schemas, tables in relational databases to support distributed applications; Designing Entity relational, sequence diagram and pseudo code using UML tools; Planning the sprints and assign stories in JIRA, allocating story points and tracking and reporting progress to product manager or scrum master; Developing shell scripts to automate low priority tasks, scheduling custom utility scripts to perform routine automated tasks as cron tabs and reduce manual tasks.
