Return to Office: As of October 15, 2024 Loblaw has adopted the following Hybrid working model (a combination of working between the office and remotely). Colleagues will continue working remotely up to 1 day a week, while spending the other 4 days in the office.

Loblaw Agency has an opportunity for Junior Full Stack Designer Co-op student with a strong emphasis on User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI) Design, and Graphic Design. You will work with our Digital Production team to create visually compelling and user-centric digital experiences for Shoppers Drug Mart Customers and help consolidate a Design System to enhance consistency and efficiency across all platforms. 

 

Role Mandate: To assist the Digital Production team with UX design including emails, flyer, Digital Guidelines development and communication and other UX design tasks as needed.   

 

Accountabilities: 

UX/UI Design: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in translating user needs and business goals into intuitive and engaging digital experiences. 

  • Support the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma. 

  • Assist in user research and usability testing to refine and optimize design solutions. 

  • Contribute to responsive design projects, ensuring consistency and usability across devices. 

Design System & Figma Libraries: 

  • Participate in the consolidation of a Design System helping to establish design patterns, components, and guidelines that ensure a cohesive email brand experience. 

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of Figma libraries, including reusable components and modules that align with the Design System. 

  • Collaborate with developers and other designers to ensure design feasibility and seamless implementation within the Design System. 

  • Contribute to the creation of modules and guidelines specifically for email design, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand standards. 

Graphic Design: 

  • Design visual elements such as icons, illustrations, and animations to enhance the user interface and overall user experience. 

  • Maintain and develop branding assets, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. 

Branding: 

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of brand guidelines. 

  • Work with the team to ensure that all designs align with the company's branding and visual identity. 

  • Assist in the creation of logos, color schemes, typography, and other branding elements. 

Collaboration & Communication: 

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative design ideas. 

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure design feasibility and seamless implementation. 

  • Communicate design concepts and present them to stakeholders clearly and effectively. 

Continuous Learning: 

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies. 

  • Seek feedback and continuously improve your design skills.  

 

Role Requirements: 

  • Currently working toward Bachelor’s degree or similar in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, or a related field. 

  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). 

  • Understanding of web design principles and front-end development basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript is a plus). 

  • A portfolio showcasing your UX/UI and graphic design work (optional). 

  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics. 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (Verbal & Written)
