The Director Media Relations (m/f/d) EMEA is developing a comprehensive media relations strategy in support of the company's business and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate (m/f/d) is an experienced Communications and Media Relations Executive who has worked in a global corporate communications environment. The candidate should be a goal-oriented storyteller with good judgment and the ability to manage multiple high-profile Media Relations projects and events simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and working experience of communications practices and communication platforms, e.g. Social Media platforms, trend marketing, and working with global teams.

Your assignments:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of external communications and global media relations strategies for all stakeholders, business and segments
  • Drive world-class media coverage globally, including the trade press, to enhance the company's reputation as a global leader in renal treatment and technology
  • Lead/manage issue, crisis and reputation management and support business units/partners in managing all reputational risks
  • Assist in the oversight of media relations planning, message development and execution of strategic corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and closures.
  • Assist in the management of FME's media relations with the aim of strengthening trust in Fresenius Medical Care's management and understanding of the company's strategic direction
  • Assist/manage the financial communication of Fresenius Medical Care AG
  • Assist in the management of problems and crisis communication, including training
  • Provide guidance and support to Executive Committee members and other key corporate spokespersons: provide specialized training, communications materials including briefings, presentations and speeches to key executives and other key corporate spokespersons
  • Monitor and create media observations and metrics and drive actionable changes based on data and insights to improve results; Ensure segments and functions are aligned with these metrics
  • Advise on social media actions and incidents, develop campaigns to spread positive corporate messages via social media
  • Managing relationships with journalists and global media agencies

Your profile:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in journalism, public relations or a related field
  • Experienced media specialist with more than 10 years of experience in media relations and/or external communications in a large international company, preferably in a decentralized organizational model
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Extensive personal network among relevant journalists worldwide
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to navigate a complex environment. Proven ability to engage with high level stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in media and public relations.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to handle major reputational issues, crises and business problems
  • Proven experience in successfully managing  global teams
  • Strong verbal communication skills and excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, understand and make appropriate recommendations to meet business needs
  • Experience creating effective messages for various audiences
  • Fluent in German and English
