As an Embedded Storage Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing Suncor’s Storage infrastructure. You’ll assist in the systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs, adhering to best practices for managing storage related systems and services across all environments. In addition to collaborating with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes, you’ll monitor system performance, engage in capacity planning, and manage software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on all storage environment – cloud and on-prem. Troubleshooting issues, analyzing logging information, and reporting performance exceptions will be part of your daily tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Computer Science degree, or Technical College diploma

  • Extensive expertise in public and private cloud environments, IT infrastructure operations (server/workload, storage/data protection, networks), for various cloud service models

  • 8 years IT operations and / or IT project execution experience including comprehensive, including in-depth knowledge of Dell/EMC Storage Arrays (PowerMax, PowerStore, VPLEX, Unity, Isilon/PowerScale), NetApp ONTAP and experience with Brocade Fibre Channel SAN administration

  • Skilled in NAS file share permissions (SMB AD integration, NFS POSIX)

  • Experienced with EMC replication tech (TimeFinder, SRDF/S, VPLEX, SyncIQ) and Brocade Fibre Channel SAN admin

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates practical experience with major cloud providers like AWS and Azure

  • Drive the development of Cloud Storage Services-specific policies and processes, actively monitor their effectiveness, and champion continuous improvement

  • Monitor and support the evolution of cloud Storage adoption through effective engagement with IT Projects, IT Operations, and key business stakeholders

  • Mature Suncor’s Storage services through the use of best practices around Automation, Microservices, or other means to enhance reliability while assuring cybersecurity, costs and compliance

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an office based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • This position is security sensitive which requires you to clear a criminal history check

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
