Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Inspector to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah!

Job Summary and Duties:

  • Confirm acceptable quality standards and workmanship practices in assigned work centers by learning/practicing process specifications and using workmanship standards during everyday job functions.

  • Perform in-process and final inspections on product in the work center, to include a review of the associated product build documentation.

  • Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists

  • Identify discrepant conditions and generate nonconformance reports for discrepancies discovered during inspection processes.

  • Perform in-depth reviews of product build documentation for configuration audit to determine if as-built meets as-designed

  • Review nonconformities and provide feedback to authors on coding selections, defect descriptions, and other key attributes of NCR's. When needed, provide insights for review boards (PMRB, MRB, or FRB) to help with disposition or RCCA.  

  • Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds

Basic Qualifications for Inspector 4:

  • U.S. Citizen

  • High School Diploma and 6 or more years of related experience

  • Experience inspecting tight tolerance machined components with complex geometry

  • Experience with dimensional inspection using precision hand tools and surface plate setup

  • Proficient blueprint reading skills

  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (ex. AS9100, ISO9001)

  • Experience with printed circuit boards

  • Competent in Microsoft Word & Excel

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

  • Willingness to work occasional overtime or weekend support as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in how to read schematics and wire lists

  • Active workmanship certifications from accreditation/standards companies, such as IPC

  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5

Salary Range: $54,400.00 - $90,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
