Grand Canyon University's College of Education is seeking to fill a Graduate Assistant position for the 2024-2026 academic years to assist with various tasks within the Assessment team. Graduate Assistants are required to be accepted to and matriculate through a Masters level program at GCU. The Graduate Assistant position offers a full master’s degree tuition waiver. 

This is a commitment through the duration of the Graduate Degree completion at GCU.

What you will do: 

  • Review and process key documents requested for approval using Adobe Acrobat.

  • Compile, clean, and audit data related to reporting needs.

  • Student outreach while upholding FERPA regulations.

  • Assist with auditing systems related to key operational activities and other data-entry in relation to key assessment cycle processes.

  • May mentor and will collaborate with student workers across various departments in the College of Education

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

  • Successfully gained admission to a relevant Graduate Program and initiated their coursework at GCU. (Certificate only programs do not satisfy this requirement)

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. (If a student is newly admitted to the University, the admission GPA is considered for this requirement.) A student must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their employment.

  • Be enrolled in as a “regular” (not provisional) degree-seeking student for at least 6 graduate level units leading to the degree. (Undergraduate or audited courses do not satisfy this requirement.) Hiring departments may require a higher enrollment.

  • Assistantships may be revoked at any time if duties are not fulfilled satisfactorily.

  • Because of the role as student and employee, graduate assistants assume responsibility for upholding the University’s Student Code of Conduct.

  • Graduate Assistants are eligible for waiver of tuition for the period employed.  Waiver of tuition may be taxable income.

  • Graduate Assistants must follow the HR employment workflow processes and pre-employment background checks.

  • Graduate Assistants have restricted work hours (maximum of 29 hours per week).

  • After all degree requirements for the planned program of study are met, a student is no longer eligible to receive a graduate assistantship.

  • “Incomplete” grades must be removed during the period following the teaching period in which the “I” was recorded in order to continue the assistantship.

  • Graduate Assistants are part-time employees and not eligible for GCU’s employment benefits, except those stipulated by law.

  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.  Therefore, F-1 students will not be considered for this position.  F-1 students may apply to any student worker positions

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of statistics, analytics, preferred.

  • CCOB or CSET degree programs preferred (Business Analytics or related field/program).

  • Data driven individual with the ability to use data to solve problems.

  • Ability to comprehend quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Excel experience needed, specifically VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

  • Ability to learn and adapt to different systems quickly.

  • Detailed oriented.

  • Understanding of educational principles is a plus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both through written and verbal communication.

  • Experience with creating surveys/pulling and analyzing survey data.
