About the role

What you need to know:

We are seeking a pro-active and results/outcome driven individual who is keen to embark on a career within motor claims.  The role will have wide ranging aspects and main elements of the role are below along:

Managing newly advised court documents and engaging with internal teams, Third Party Agents (TPAs) and panel lawyers to ensure the appropriate steps are being taken on these matters.

Providing customer focussed support through triaging and managing incoming claim enquiries from brokers/customers.

Additional adhoc support to the motor claims teams and management.

Ultimately managing a blended portfolio of complex motor claims from cradle to grave in a pro-active and cost effective manner.       

The role will require interaction with internal claims teams and stakeholders, brokers, insureds, external providers and third party agents.

A training framework and support network will be provided for the successful candidate to learn new skills and knowledge on all aspects of motor claims - technical, legal liabilities, coverage, quantum, legal/regulatory procedure, negotiation and assessment skills etc – to manage a portfolio of complex motor claims.  

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take pro-active and timely steps to effectively deal with incoming court documents – engaging with internal teams and external TPAs and oversee their management of activities ahead of Court deadlines – liaise with our legal panel to ensure they are taking the necessary steps.     
  • Oversight of the Incoming Court Documents process – ensuring records/registers are kept up to date and case actions are chased in a timely manner. 
  • Escalating any un-resolved Court Document cases to Team Manager and providing senior management with a weekly profile overview of new incoming cases.
  • Liaising with Courts and Claimant Representatives via telephone and email to obtain the necessary information to identify our involvement on a Court Document.  
  • Support the team by triaging and managing incoming claims enquiries from brokers and customers. Reviewing the claim file to identify the information to answer the enquiry and engaging with the claim handler where necessary. Proving timely responses to them in line with the Department’s Key Performance Targets.
  • With the training in place, proactively handle and investigate complex claims from cradle to grave, accurately and efficiently validating and assessing coverage, liability, and quantum.
  • Demonstrate a customer focused mindset and achieve cost-effective claim resolutions, tangibly seen through claims outcomes and litigation management.
  • Support business strategies in minimising indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense.
  • Demonstrate best practice adherence, consistently achieving audit benchmark and/or above.
  • Foster a “Win Together” mindset and develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholder/vendors/panel etc.
  • Keep informed and up to date on all aspects of the Claims proposition and promote where possible.
  • Ensure claims file data is accurate at all times.
  • Contribute positively to the team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in handling third party motor claims including   personal injury claims, third party property damage and credit hire claims (later optional)
    • Good understanding of the end to end claims procedures along with knowledge using claims systems including MOJ & OIC portals  
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written & verbal, in managing various stakeholders (customers, panel lawyers, brokers etc)
  • Detailed working knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment within which such motor claims are handled.
  • Proven ability to make the right decisions on legal liability; damage assessment and assessing the need for investigation or rehabilitation.
  • Strong policy language and interpretation skills for accurate indemnity decisions
  • Self-motivated, proactive team member, while taking individual responsibility for an allocated case load.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
