This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin’s design, manufacturing, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health, and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will ensure the Software Quality for various spaceflight systems. You will report to the Senior Manager of Program Quality, and assure the successful execution of software development plans that support compliance with internal processes and customer requirements; approve software configurations for safety critical functions; and collaborate on process improvement initiatives for various spaceflight systems. You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and on your own initiative; and be adaptable as you will work on a variety of applications and systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serve as a quality liaison in the transition from development to production by conducting software conformity review and reviewing and auditing load control processes
Assure that the development life cycle and the activities that occur in each phase are compliant with the approved plans, customer requirements, and Quality System requirements
Monitor and audit all aspects of software development including planning, design and development, configuration management, verification and validation, and transition to production
Provide software supplier oversight
Generate metrics and trends for managing risk and communicating software readiness for safety critical operations
Participate in software engineering design reviews and make recommendations to enhance the quality of new software designs
Monitor and audit complex electronic hardware development activities
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years industry experience in software engineering field or software quality engineer role
3+ years experience in auditing and assuring software development assurance process compliance
3+ years experience identifying software process-related problems, performing root cause analysis and managing corrective actions
Familiarity with Software quality assurance standards (RTCA/DO-178C, RTCA/DO-254, AS9115, CMMI)
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline
Relevant experience transitioning a product from development, through production to operations
Experience with Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation
American Society of Software Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $103,230.00-$144,522.00Other site ranges may differ
