Are you ready to shape the reputation of one of Australia’s leading universities?

As Manager, Corporate Affairs and Reputation, you will play a key role in safeguarding UQ’s public image through strategic communication, proactive risk management, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll develop and implement communication strategies to manage reputational risks, working closely with media, industry, government, and the community.

In this high-impact role, you’ll advise senior leaders, create tailored messaging and coordinate responses to emerging issues. Your ability to think strategically, manage risks, and build strong relationships will be essential in aligning UQ’s communication efforts across local, national and global audiences.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans to proactively manage UQ’s reputation with key stakeholders, including media, government, industry and the community.

  • Advise senior leaders on reputation and risk management, delivering clear, tailored messaging across various communication channels.

  • Monitor external trends and emerging risks, coordinating timely responses to safeguard the University’s public image.

  • Collaborate with marketing and communication teams to align messaging and support local risk management efforts across UQ’s operations.

About You  

  • Postgraduate qualifications in communication, corporate affairs, or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Proven expertise in managing reputational risks and developing strategic communication initiatives with measurable outcomes.

  • Strong advisory skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders and key stakeholders.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating tailored messaging for diverse audiences and channels.

  • Ability to monitor and respond to emerging issues, demonstrating strategic thinking and agility in dynamic environments.
