Job Summary:

Bertram Capital is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance Team in the Foster City, CA office. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your finance and accounting experience in a thriving private equity firm.

Location:

  • Office address: 950 Tower Lane Suite 1000 Foster City, CA 94404
  • Incumbent must live within 30 miles of office location.
  • This is a hybrid position: The Senior Accountant will be expected to work from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities:        

Management Company and Subsidiaries

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, and journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly cash reconciliations
  • Prepare weekly cash update report to monitor cash balances
  • Prepare quarterly and year end closes
  • Assist with document requests for tax reporting purposes
  • Assist Finance team with projects as needed

Funds

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of fund-level financial reporting, including preparation of:
    • monthly cash reconciliations
    • quarterly management fee calculations
    • quarterly waterfall allocations
    • capital call support and notices
    • distribution support and notices
    • quarterly investor capital account statements
    • quarterly financial statements
  • Track incoming capital call wires and ensure distribution wires are processed
  • Ensure all journal entries and accounts are reconciled
  • Manage records retention, organize, file and maintain the funds’ financial records
  • Assist the VP of Finance/Assistant Controller with requests from the funds’ external auditors and tax preparer
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of investor contacts in Investran CRM and the applicable fund reporting portal
  • Assist Finance team with projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the private equity industry or public accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with investment accounting, including fair value accounting and partnership accounting.
  • Proficient in financial reporting software and systems, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle complex financial data and perform accurate reconciliations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and investors.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is: $135,000-$175,000 total annual compensation. Offered salary may be based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. Other compensation includes carried interest/profit sharing.
