About this role

The Payroll Specialist enables a best-in-class employee experience through exceptional service delivery and subject matter consultation for Payroll. This includes the management, implementation, and delivery of innovative solutions.

This role will lead the payroll Korea Payroll and Time & Absence Management operation, and lead projects cross-countries and cross-disciplines.   The main objective is to ensure that the employees are paid on time and accurately, in compliance with the respective country tax-legislation, agreed labor conditions and company rules and regulations. By nature, this job requires a substantial amount of coordination with a variety of internal and external stakeholders where accountability and ownership of data and processes are key. External reporting to tax and other governmental agencies is also part of the scope of work. 

It is your responsibility to use technical experience, established practices and personal judgement to analyze and resolve operational enquiries and problems and achieve operational excellence in Payroll and Time & Absence Management.   In your work you are expected to demonstrate strong Continuous Improvement mindset in process management, with an eye for detail.  In your interactions with local and international partners you present specialist knowledge in an understandable and winning manner, and are perceived as a valuable advisor.

This position will report to Regional Payroll/Time & Absence Management Leader.



Responsibilities – Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

  • Deliver all Payroll, Time & Absence, and Data Management activities for the employees in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Process information with confidentiality and with a high level of accuracy.
  • Lead Payroll strategic improvement projects, change projects.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments to employees and local authorities.
  • Perform activities according to the Dow internal control & compliance framework and lead coordination for internal and external audits.
  • Monitor and manage of outside service providers, including managing, owning, and having full accountability for the data to and from the payroll provider.
  • Serve as an escalation point to address employee queries/cases on payroll related matters.
  • Provide information and insights to Discipline Leaders to continuously improve Knowledge Base, Operational Excellence and Payroll delivery.
  • Maintain a “best in class” internal/external compliance landscape and develop it as internal/external compliance environment change.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance for end-to-end process excellence.
  • Participate as a leading country focal for the Payroll/Time & Absence solution implementation.
  • Lead area level projects (cross-country, cross-discipline and/or cross-department)


 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • You have a Master or bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance or related area.
  • You bring a minimum of 5 years payroll experience, both at a technical and practical level in diverse business and work processes or other relevant job experience.
  • Your professional experience can either be within Payroll, Finance or HR compensation and benefits, where you will have gained practical experience with designing / operating centralized business models.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (written & oral) is mandatory. Any additional Asian languages would be an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Workday, ServiceNow and ADP Time solutions, SAP is an advantage.
  • Understand organizational interdependencies and have cross-functional & cross culture.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset combined with strong communication skills.
  • Experience in high volume operational environments is required.
  • Experience in internal controls through prior audit participation is preferred.
  • Experience of managing complex labour /payroll related legislations, collaborating with the HR function in common areas.
  • Strong project and change management skills.
  • Good problem solving, critical thinking skills and managing competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a customer service mindset.
