What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for an MRI Technician to independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.  

  • Perform MRI procedures at a tech level in accordance with protocols, performing both clinical and research scans.

  • Maintain proper quality control procedures.

  • Have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, researchers, medical staff, and the public.

  • Knowledge of concepts, standards, procedures, and equipment.

  • Be able to work extended hours when necessary.

  • Maintain a safe and appropriate work area. 

  • Maintain inventory of supplies.

  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in Tolerable Daily Concentration (TDC) Occupational Exposure Plan policy.

  • Have knowledge of basic patient care and activities that may be necessary during exam.

  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Work as a team member within the imaging department and all other departments.

  • Document work processes as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What You Will Need:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiology program, in lieu of a university degree

  • A minimum of EIGHT (8) years of experience, at least ONE (1) year of which is specialized MRI experience.

  • Ability to obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Knowledge of current medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of imaging techniques to perform routine tests.

  • Knowledge of imaging equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.

  • Previous experience with National Institute of Health (NIH) preferred.
