Key Position Details:

  • This position is based at our Champlin location with flexibility to explore other locations.
  • Training Director of Allina's Doctoral Training program.
  • This includes an APA accredited internship, a Postdoctoral program, and Practicum training.

Job Description:

Provide leadership to maintain, and enhance when needed, the clinical performance of psychologists, master level therapists and master level psychologists. Partner with an Operations Manager in order to provide clinical and operational direction to other leaders and providers. This dyad leadership team is jointly accountable to create efficiencies and remove barriers in order to drive exceptional results that are greater than could be achieved individually. Supervisors maintain accountability to Service Line leadership in order to advance work within provider recruitment, patient access, care coordination, practice management, digital strategies, and the overall patient experience.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Deliver Exceptional Patient Experience, Quality and Improved Performance.
    • Understand and act on Patient Experience survey data on a service line level.
    • Accountable for survey dimensions related to patient experience.
    • Round on providers and patients using leader standard processes.
    • Empower staff to resolve patient complaints and concerns and create a mindset of service recovery when needed.
    • Ensure provider resources are aligned for optimal patient access.
    • Partner with key stakeholders to lead and deploy system-wide initiatives using effective change management and improvement methodology.
    • Participate in Daily Management System when appropriate.
    • Accountable for clinical quality outcomes.
    • Identify and address gaps in adherence to care integration strategies.
  • Employee Engagement.
    • Analyze and act on employee engagement data.
    • Engage in employee rounding activities.
    • Provide regular in person presence at all sites demonstrating awareness and involvement in site activities (attend staff meetings, etc.).
    • Seek opportunities to promote development and growth as a leader including meeting facilitation and representation locally, and across Allina Health Group.
    • Foster provider awareness of their informal role as a leader at the site.
  • Providers and Staff- leading, managing, motivating and developing.
    • Communicate and engage providers in key clinical initiatives by establishing and sharing a clear, compelling vision that allows them to see their contribution and role in the work.
    • Oversee management of provider performance.
    • This includes, but is not limited to:
      • communicating expectations
      • conducting timely performance reviews
      • coaching
      • developing clinical skill
      • providing recognition
      • providing disciplinary actions when needed
      • using patient experience data to celebrate and enhance provider practice
    • Assist in recruiting, selecting and onboarding highly talented providers.
    • Plan communications for provider meetings.
    • Understand and communicate the service line strategic vision to providers as needed.
    • Communicate and engage key stakeholders in key clinical initiatives by establishing and sharing a clear, compelling vision that allows key stakeholders to see their contribution and role in the work.
    • Partner with operational management to optimize the operational design including care team structure and staffing required to carry out the plan.
    • Identify needed changes on how to best support providers and/or resources needed to best implement care and escalate appropriately to next level leadership and/or key stakeholders.
  • Financial.
    • Manage overall provider productivity and address issues in a timely manner.
    • Collaborate with operational support in managing operating expense and productivity to drive overall clinic performance by reviewing reports with Clinic Manager to determine when and if action is needed and strategically assess and solve problems to align operating expenses and productivity, real-time and long-term.
    • Partner with key stakeholders to identify future capital needs and growth plans.
    • Partner with key stakeholders to communicate and champion decisions regarding expense management.
  • Safety, Risk Management and Compliance.
    • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure adherence to all safety, risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree
  • 3 to 7 years of independent clinical practice
  • 0 to 2 years of leadership experience
  • Experience with supervision within Doctoral training


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Allina Training program
  • At least 2 years formal leadership experience.
