Position Summary
 

Provides strategic leadership to direct the Wildfire Engineering team in working collaboratively with Distribution Operations, Vegetation Management, Transmission Engineering, Risk, and others across the organization to engineer and implement plans for the company’s Wildfire Mitigation program. Responsible for the development of Wildfire Mitigation engineering work plans including the engineering of solutions, project management, keeping accurate asset records, and field completion of the work. Support regulatory filing, risk modeling, and the development of new distribution system capabilities and technology to manage and/or mitigate the impacts of wildfire.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads Distribution Engineering in implementation of Wildfire Mitigation work. Collaborates with other business units. Provides oversight and accountability for program engineering, deployment planning, risk mitigation, support of customer programs, project management, and budgets.
  • Oversees the project planning and engineering of new infrastructure and rebuilds of electric distribution facilities for wildfire mitigation and resilience. Ensures adequate resources are available to complete work plan to meet regulatory requirements and mitigate risk. Analyze and validate utility constraints and coordinate resolution with necessary parties.
  • Support regulatory testimony for infrastructure investment and reporting requirements. Regularly represents the company with community and other stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Provides project oversight to distribution engineering programs of work in each operating company to meet emerging requirements based on assessment of wildfire risk variables and new mitigation requirements.
  • Collaborates with Distribution and Transmission Operations leadership to coordinate OpCo based design/construction activities associated with this initiative. Ensures adequate construction resources to meet project schedules. Resolves project plan gaps and challenges.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Seven years of related experience (utility preferred).
  • Strong project management experience, ability to deliver results, and leadership experience required.
  • Experience in communicating to various groups and proven track record of working collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Requirements

  • System Protection experience preferred
  • Wildfire Mitigation experience preferred

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $139,400.00 to $197,466.66 per year
