The Law Clerk supports our Legal Department by conducting research, assisting with research memoranda, reviewing and drafting documents, supporting ongoing projects and performing various administrative tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is a 2L or 3L student available to work Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. However, we understand the demands of a student’s schedule and academic commitments and are open to considering a part-time role, as long as the candidate can work during daytime hours. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate environment. This position will report directly to the General Counsel.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on various topics, including corporate governance, transportation law, collections, compliance and contract law.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents such as contracts, agreements and memoranda.
- Support Counsel in preparing for meetings, hearings and negotiations.
- Provide litigation support to Counsel by assisting in litigation initiation and defense, subpoena and discovery production, and hearing preparation.
- Organize and maintain legal files and systems, ensuring all documents and reports are accurate and up to date.
- Assist with due diligence for transactions and regulatory compliance.
- Assist senior members of the Legal Department with a variety of legal matters including account collections, complex cargo claims and recovery, and employment matters.
- Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling meetings and managing correspondence, and managing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Collaborate with other departments to address legal inquiries and facilitate communication.
Requirements:
- Current enrollment in a Juris Doctor (JD) program (2L or 3L preferred).
- Thorough understanding of law, court procedures, court systems and rules of assigned jurisdiction.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- This position is onsite and reports to IEL’s Corporate office in Blue Ash.
