As the Director of Global Procurement, you will lead both strategic and tactical procurement activities worldwide, ensuring alignment with Telix’s corporate objectives while driving cost savings, efficiency, and supplier innovation. This role involves developing and executing a global procurement framework that supports long-term business goals, and you must be willing to roll up your sleeves to not only establish this framework but also drive its execution across the organization. You will oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including vendor selection, bidding and negotiations, cost analysis, contract management, supplier strategy, and risk management. Collaboration with internal stakeholders and the development of strategic external partnerships will be key to ensuring smooth vendor selection, purchase order execution, and system solutions. The position requires expertise in supplier relationships, strategic sourcing, RFP management, procurement analytics, and operational excellence. As a dynamic leader, you will manage both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of a growing global procurement function, ensuring alignment with Telix’s financial and strategic goals while supporting key projects and infrastructure initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership
    • Develop and implement the global procurement strategy, aligning with overall corporate objectives and business needs.
    • Lead the global strategic sourcing process, including identifying, evaluating, and selecting key suppliers across all categories (IT, raw materials, services, direct, indirect, etc.).
    • Drive initiatives that focus on supplier innovation, long-term relationships, and collaborative partnerships with key suppliers to improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance value.
    • Develop and manage the global supplier base to optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and supply chain resilience.
    • Lead high-value contract negotiations, ensuring that contracts are in compliance with corporate policies and deliver maximum value to the organization.
    • Work closely with senior executives and functional leaders to ensure that procurement strategies support broader business goals, including sustainability and risk management objectives.
  • Tactical Procurement Management
    • Oversee day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchasing of goods and services for global operations.
    • Lead the tactical procurement team to ensure compliance with global procurement policies, effective supplier selection, and streamlined purchasing processes.
    • Ensure operational procurement efficiency, including purchase order management, invoice processing, and supplier relationship management.
    • Continuously assess and optimize procurement workflows, focusing on speed, accuracy, and cost control across regions.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage and mentor a diverse global procurement team, including category managers, procurement analysts, buyers, and other key personnel.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and professional development.
    • Develop training programs and provide ongoing education to ensure the team remains at the forefront of procurement best practices, technology, and industry trends.
    • Build a strong, cross-functional collaboration with finance, legal, IT, and other business units to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with business goals.
  • Supplier Risk & Compliance Management
    • Monitor supplier performance and risk management to ensure that all procurement activities align with the company’s risk management strategy.
    • Manage the global supplier compliance program, ensuring all suppliers adhere to ethical, legal, and quality standards.
    • Ensure procurement practices meet regulatory requirements in all relevant jurisdictions.
    • Ensure all procurement processes and activities comply with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) regulations, maintaining robust internal controls and mitigating financial and operational risks.

  • Analytics & Reporting
    • Drive procurement analytics to measure performance, identify savings opportunities, and track key procurement metrics (e.g., cost savings, supplier performance, contract compliance).
    • Provide strategic insights and regular reporting to senior leadership on procurement performance, savings achievements, supplier performance, and market trends.
    • Continuously monitor market conditions and industry trends to inform strategic procurement decisions.
  • Budget & Cost Management
    • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring that procurement activities are executed within budgetary constraints while achieving cost savings.
    • Track procurement savings targets and report on progress against financial objectives.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/commerce, supply chain, or engineering/science required. Post-graduate finance or business qualifications preferred.
  • CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certification or similar procurement certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years in strategic sourcing or senior procurement role in a commercial operating environment working across business functions and global teams.
  • Proven experience in global procurement strategy development, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Previous experience in advanced pharmaceutical environment preferred.
  • Prior experience working in clinical sourcing is highly preferred.
  • Well-developed negotiation and vendor engagement and contract development skills to take a lead role on key supply and vendor agreements and contract negotiations.
  • Sound financial analysis and cost modelling experience and capability to assess and breakdown procurement spend and practice and working with Finance and key stakeholders to build business cases that deliver on budget and business deliverables and outcomes.
  • Strong ability to engage and partner with internal stakeholders to assess business needs across multiple operating groups and develop solutions and outcomes that deliver on organization plans to budget and specification.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in procurement and supply chain management.
