PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Corporate Security Analyst Intern will assist the Corporate Security team in safeguarding organizational assets, ensuring compliance with security policies, and enhancing overall security posture. This internship offers hands-on experience in various facets of corporate security, providing an opportunity to learn about risk assessment, incident response, and security monitoring.

Kemper interns will be exposed to the following concepts and experiences: 

  • Assist in conducting risk assessments to identify security vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
  • Support the team in performing security audits and assessments of corporate facilities and operations.
  • Help in documenting and responding to security incidents, including gathering evidence and analyzing data.
  • Assist in the development and revision of security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor security systems and alerts to detect and respond to potential security breaches.
  • Analyze security data and reports to identify trends and suggest enhancements to security measures.
  • Help create training materials and conduct awareness sessions on security best practices for employees.
  • Work closely with various departments to ensure a unified approach to corporate security.
  • Maintain accurate records of security-related incidents, policies, and compliance activities.
  • Stay updated on the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to assist in strategic planning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (MUST HAVE):

  • Junior or Senior status enrolled at the University of Chicago or Northwestern University.
  • Qualifying majors in an academic area related to project management, risk or emergency management, data analytics, information technology or a related field.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of security principles and practices is a plus
  • This position is a hybrid role and may require work in the office 2-3 days a week.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
