Health Unit Coordinator - Emergency Department  


Our Mentor Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering Lake County residents enhanced access to Cleveland Clinic, one of the nation’s top healthcare systems. With 4 operating rooms, 34 inpatient care rooms, and a helipad, we are making it easier than ever for our Lake County patients to access high-quality care close to home. Join Cleveland Clinic’s newly built Mentor Hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) and become a part of Mentor’s supportive environment where everyone excels and is valued for what they bring to the team.   


Mentor Hospital’s Emergency Department is a 19-bed department that provides 24/7 emergency care to diverse populations of patients. With an innovative virtual platform, the Emergency Department has a telehealth “robot” (a mobile telehealth station) to host consults for patients. 
 

A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM – 7:30AM.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. 

  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.  

  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. 

  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources. 

  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. 

  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-related role.  

  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework. 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • College degree.  

  • Microsoft Office experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
