In this role, you will provide senior-level direction and technical engineering expertise to ensure a safe and functional process design for our Liquids Pipeline (LP) assets. This includes providing process engineering and hydraulic guidance for new project proposals through the entire stage-gate cycle, as well as providing process engineering and hydraulic support for operational issues or optimization efforts.

What you will do:

  • Actively participate in scope development of pipeline and facility projects.

  • Complete and/or review feasibility studies, conceptual designs, process and hydraulic studies, and detail engineering designs to ensure designs align with Enbridge quality processes, standards, and industry regulations.

  • Review and provide technical direction in development of PFD, P&ID, Shutdown Keys, control narratives, and associated engineering documents.

  • Leverage intimate system knowledge and technical skill while guiding project teams to ensure competitive designs and operational reliability. This includes actively participating in engineering activities to support Project Execution teams to ensure project requirements are met.

  • Review operational process data to drive technical recommendations.

  • Conduct technical reviews, with a focus on process engineering and hydraulics, at different stages in project life cycle gating process.

  • Identify and recommend enhancements to the engineering standards and specifications. This includes actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives with respect to design and processes.
     

Who you are:

  • Completion of a degree in Engineering specializing in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineering designation or qualify to register as a P.Eng. in the Province of Alberta.

  • 6 + years of progressively process and hydraulic engineering experience.

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic modelling software such as Stoner Pipeline Simulator, PipeFlow, Pipeline Studio, and/or AFT Fathom.

  • Experienced in integrating cooling technologies to dynamic piping systems is an asset.

  • Demonstrated senior level technical competence in process design, hydraulics, and engineering within the oil & gas industry. This includes solid understanding of liquid pipeline and facility operations.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal partners, upper-level management, vendors, and service providers.

  • Ability to shift focus between planned and unplanned activities, while remaining effective.
     

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with up to 10% travel to Enbridge/customer/consultant offices, US offices and field locations 1-2 times per year.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
